Winchester 1873 SRC, 44-40, British proofed. 1893 manufacture

Wow, this thing is OLD... its the oldest original firearm that I currently own (6 years earlier than my second oldest, an SMLE)
Wow, this thing is beautiful. OK, cracked buttstock, no metal finish, etc... etc... but, its beautiful!! (i will get pics)
Its also WAY too short for my 6ft 6 frame.... grin.. BUT.. the wifey aint gonna steal this one!!
This is gonna go fantastically with my 45lc Remmie '58 Kirst Konvs' and the Baikal (Remmie) SXS

Accuracy, etc.
All shot at 50ft. Using the L rear sight. 5 rnd groups

Black Dawge 'low recoil' 44-40 factory ammo
'Low' sight setting -> 2.2" group, 1.5" low
'High' sight setting -> 2.1" group, 2" high
Medium felt recoil, POI .25" right of POA

Home spun 44-40, mixed brass, 23 g FFg, 205 gr bullet
'Low' sight setting -> 1.2" group, 1" low
'High' sight setting -> 1" group, .5" high
Almost no felt recoil, POI .5" right of POA

PMC 'cowboy' 44-40 smokeless factory ammo
'Low' sight setting -> 1.75" group, 1" low
'High' sight setting -> 1.5" group, 1.5" high
Slight recoil, perfect windage
