Everyone talks about the size of the various caps. I measured some that I have today.

CCI #10 are .163 tall and .172 wide

RWS 1075 are .159 tall and .175 wide

CCI #11 are .164 tall and .177 wide

Remington #11 are .178 tall and .182 wide.
Further observation on the Remington caps is that the ones that I have vary widely in heigth and width.

I have 1858 Remingtons and Thunder Ridge nipples.
The #10s will not go on.
The #11 CCIs fit very tight. To use them I almost have to "hammer seat" them
The #11 Remingtons fit, but loosly. They do not fall off.

CCI 11s fit my ROAs, but they don't go boom.  Remington 11s are slightly loose, but they don't fall off and they do go boom.

I've got to try Remington 10s

Just bought a set of Thunderridge nipples for my Uberti remmie .. they did ask if i was going to use the #10 or #11 caps recond they make a nipple for each cap size . My new set works flawless with #10 remington caps as i requested .

Thunder Ridge web site says: "Buy Treso if yer usin' 10 caps and buy Thunder Ridge if yer usin' 11 caps."

Use REMINGTON #10s and they'll fit BOTH kinds of nipples. That's how I have gotten all my 15 or so Colts & Remingtons to use the same cap. I have about half with stock nipples and some 2 or 3 with Uncle Mikes' (Butler Cr.), one gun with Tresos and one or two with the Th. Rdg SS nips. All take Rem#10 caps.

The Remington caps are preslit and therefor swell as they are seated and hold on nicely. The CCI and RWS caps are a little thicker walled and don't "give" as easily and therefore are more finicky as to which nipple they fit. I managed to have about half my guns accept RWS 1075 and the other half accept CCI#11s. ALL took the Rem#10.

Damn Hellgate, you must be my long lost twin!  ;)  My cap results echo yours to a T. My Treso & T. Ridge nipples take a Remmy #10 perfectly. Just little nudge for 'em to bottom out and boom every time.

Hey Fox Cr Kid,
Thanks for the dittos. I recently bought a case of 5000 Rem#10s that came out to $2.85 a tin. I'll have 'em shot up in a coupla months...............................................NOT!
It sure simplifies things to have one size fits all.

I have good luck with the #10 Rems too. They work on the Treso nipples for my 51s and the 58 Rems with standard Pietta nipples and for my ROAs. Seems that they fit a lot of nipples. It sure keeps it simple for me.
I just bought 500 of them and had to pay $4.95 a tin from Dixie. I think that is about a dollar higher than the last time. Uhggggg.
I still have some RWS 1045s that I tried to use on the ROAs and I use them to pop off before I load up for a shoot. They didn't work out for me.

State Shoot time! My shooting? Does the term "trainwreck" bring a picture to mind?
I learned about the Remingtons:
1. If the hammer spring is maxed out to insure primer fireing, the nose of the nipple (Thunder Ridge) becomes deformed quickly (less than 60 days). The #11 caps when pushed over the musroomed noses spread so far that they do not stay on. I had one stage on Sat that I got only 5 shots out of two guns.
2. Smaller caps do not work because of the deformation of the nipples will not allow them to fit at all.
3. I had one extra set of nipples that I put on one gun and used the best 6 out of the used 12 on the other gun. I had 100 RWS 1075s that I could force onto the nipples. I only had 1 fall off in four stages.
4. I have been required to clean cylinder, base pin, frame between each stage to have any hope of the guns functioning thru a complete 5 shots. I clean, grease the base pin, add grease to the cylinder hole and then just before firing add Ballistol to the front and back of the cylinder. I was shooting in the same posse with White River Ike who is an experienced Remington shooter. He did not disassemble his guns for the entire match. NO GREASE. After every other stage he pulled the base pin out and squirted a little water on it and pushed it back in. I tried it. Works. His theory is that all of the grease and oils catch the powder debris and cause more hurt than help.
5. If I load using the mechanism on the guns, I cannot get a full compression on the load. I use a .454 ball, a 1/8" wool wad and what my powder measure says is 25 grains (by volume) of powder. If I load using the cylinder loader I get another 1/8" to 3/16" more compression. Doing that I get no hang-fires.
