Need advice in 1858 uberti nipples

I finally bought a Uberrti 1858 to go with my stash of other brands of 1858`s and now i find Uberti has a different size nipple ..I use #10 remington caps on all my other Remmies and never have to pinch a cap to make it stay on ... this week end i tried cci #10 cci #11 and remington #11 and #10 `s again .. They all fall off the Uberti .. Not good i really like this pistol and would really enjoy shooting it if the dang caps would stay put .... I`m not looking for a brand of cap ..What i want to find is a nipple that will fit the Uberti that a # 10 remington cap will stay put on ... there must be a nipple out there that will work ..any info would greatly appreciated .

Tresco Nipples are what most swear by... if you use several different make Remy's get them for all the guns.

You said you didn't want cap brands ... but here it is anyway
Uberti's like RWS Dynamit Noble red label nipples.

Red label are the slightly shorter & green label are longer and work best on Uberti's Colts ( I use #11 Green on my Second Gen's )

I use both Treso and Thunderridge nipples on my Cap an Ball pistols. Most have Treso's and they are great. They like #10 Remington caps. Once the cap is on it stays on. Also I have very little trouble with spent caps falling into the action. All Uberti revolvers except the Dragoons and Walkers use the same Treso or Thunderridge nipple.

The Treso cones are a little longer whereas the Thunder Ridge SS nipples are much like the old Uncle Mike's/Butler Creek replacement nippes which are a little shorter. Both makes like the Remington#10 caps. I have not found a gun yet that will accept the RWS#1055 (#10) caps. About half my guns will take the RWS#1075(#11s). All of them take the Rem#10s or I replace the nips with the Thunder ridge SS nips.

Thanks Pards ..i think i`ll try some of the thunderridge ss nipples ... I thought i`d hears some say they used the #10 remington caps ... and i swear by them myself .. they always go pop and never fall off my other Remmies .. makes for some real quality shooting . and i have opened up the nipple recess on all of mine so i can use my snail type capper makes capping real fast .. so i don`t want to have to pinch caps to make them stay put .

Just as a coincidence, Uberti C&Bs take to RUGER nipples just great. They will work until your TR's arrive.

I ordered 2 sets of nipples from Thunder Ridge yesterday ..should have them by this weekend .. they assured me a #10 cap would stay on these with out pinching them .. i sure hope so .. another 24 bucks added to the price of the Uberti ...oh well ..it`s a nice gun .. looks like Uberti would address the problem with the nipples though ...... most of the toy stores around me sell Pietta nipples for 11 bucks a set and they hold tight on a #10 cap . Looking at the size of threads on the Uberti .. i figured the Rugers were the same ... but can`t find them local eaither .. no one even sells the ruger pistols here .. I`m supprised as big as Memphis is .. one would think .. but Sportsmanswarehouse sells the Remington made by Uberti .just no extra nipples .

Ruger nipples do not fit Piettas. Ruger threads are 12X28 and require a hex wrench to screw in. Ruger nipples fit Armi San Marco C&Bs.

My ASM Remington takes the Pietta nipples ..but the cylinder is the shorter Uberti ..My Uberti drop in fits it . and the Pietta cylinder is too long .
I`ve seen others on here say their ASM took the Pietta cylinders ....odd ASM must have done some mixing ..
Heard someone else say his Ruger nipples fit his Uberti 1858 remmie.
My Pietta remmie nipples fit my ASM and my, Euroarms Remmies.. mine are all the same thread.
This Uberti is odd man out with the Itilian Remmies i own ... but she`s a keeper .

It could well be that the threads have been changed over the years. My 1994-96 Colt repro ASMs are the same thread size as the ROA since I had to put ROA Uncle Mike's replacement nipples into my ASM 1860 Army. The replacement Pietta and Uberti nipples were 6X.75mm. They could be all different by now.

The proof date on my ASM remmie is 1999 most folks have older models i`ve talked to .. that may be the difference .. i probally have one of the last ones they made ....and the quality is great on mine too as good as Uberti or better . I don`t know what year ASM went out of the gun business ... or should i say sold out .. i heard they are under another name now .. something like AWA now .

I've got an Uberti importted by Navy Arms, circa 1974, and yes, the nipples have been changed in both thread diameter and length. I bought a set of Treso Nipples for an Uberti and they don't fit. The best info I've gotten on my Remington NMA is at bigironbarrels.com.

Don't know where you got your Treso nipples from but I also have an older Navy Arms 58 Remmie and I purchased Treso nipples from Thunder Ridge Muzzleloading (part number 11-50-106 6X75mm Old Italian Rev./pistol 6 pack) which fit mine. http://www.thunder-ridge-muzzleloading.com/parts_nipples.htm#t-nip

Ordered mine from Thunderridge too .. my Uberti 58 is a 2004 model i beleive the nipple size is going to be the 12/28 my other remmies take the 6x75`s ... sure hope the get here soon ..my fingers hurt from pinching caps last weekend . Took some of the fun out of it .
