Hey did everyone get the flyer that was sent out in the mail telling of the great collection of cowboy and victorian era memorabilia, and collectables that will be going up for auction this November 4 &54 in Des Moines at the fair Grounds?  It appears that our good friend and co-founder of NCOWS, Jim Boeke is thining out his collection in order to  free up space and reduce inventory.  There are lots of vintage clothing, guns, and advertising items from the victorian and western era.  The auction is listed by Rich Penn auctions of Waterloo IA.

Their Web Site is:               www.richpennauctions.com.

The auction will be held in the Visitor center of the Des Moines, State Fair Grounds.

I would imagine this will be one of the biggest and best collection to be auctioned off thus far this Century of these types of items amassed in the mid-west.

Man, this will be quite an event and I am thinking a great time to get a look at some very rare and vintage items.

Hope to see everyone there.  Anyone interested in going that way from eastern Iowa, send me a PM, I think I will be attending.

We will try to make a day or so of it.   I'm just curious why Jim Boeke is selling off his collection, does this indicate an end to River Junction Trade Co.?   Any body that knows Jim have an answer?

Dr. Bob

44caliberkid,

Not to worry!  Jim has a block of buildings that he is transforming into a part of McGregors main street of the 1880's.  He needs the capital to get the renovations done.  Has 4 of 7 B & B rooms done and a couple of buildings started.  Looks to ge a great set up when he gets it all done!  Just movng his investment around.  ;D ;D ;D

River Junction is still there for your shopping pleasure.

Thanks for the heads-up Guage Rod!
The upcoming 'Country Store Advertising Event' as mentioned above is being held on Saturday and Sunday, November 4th & 5th. The 'WITHOUT RESERVE' auction will be held at the IOWA TOURISM BUILDING located on the Iowa State Fairgrounds, southeast quadrant of Des Moines, Iowa on Highway #163. The Fairgrounds is well-marked on all Interstate roads (I-80, I-35, I-235) and state Highways (65, 69 & 163) as well as main and local streets (University Ave, etc.).
The flier indicates items can be previewed at: www.richpennauctions.com
E-mails with questions are to be posted at: richpennauctions@aol.com
They suggest purchasing the catalog, $35, it will certainly be chock-full of pretty pictures judging from the flier, Jim's got enough goodies to fill several buildings, his collection is par excellance and there is no doubt this offering will go down in the annals as one of the best! I imagine we'll see a whole slew of our fellow NCOWS Pards & Pardettes there, if you are planning on attending, please drive safe and bring lots of cash, I might need to borrow some!
Best regards and don't forget to look around and see who you are bidding against, it might be me!
