Howdy to the camp,

Well, just so happens that I have one of the new 1872 Open Tops in 45 Colt on its way from EMF.  It will go well with my Uberti 1860 with the R&D cylynder (until IO get an Uberti factory 58 gated 45 Colt conversion <G>.

I will be evaluating it for a CC article, anmd will be keeping it. of course.  It will go well with myt Spencers!

Your jealous ! you get them to send you all that neat hardware, to test...
Want's more your get to write about it ... and dammit you can SPELL !  :)

I plan to Pair my Type II with my Opentop (the R&D 2nd Gen. will then backup) and run 45 Sch. through them.

When you test the 45 LC OT would you run some 45 Sch too for a comparison... please ?

Howdy,

You bet.  I had an 1872 opentop in 45 schofield, but sold it awhile back when I had the chance, as I was expecting the 45 Colt model.  Problem is, it took about 6 more months than I planned!

On your R&D on an 1860, is it a pain in the butt removing the cylinder between stages when shooting BP?  So far I have only shot smokeless.

Well ...yeah ! but I don't really care that much, I love the gun anyway ! ( O course It will become a back-up gun)... My reloader uses Clean Shot.

I found the best stuff for BP ( auto store anti-seize bolt & nut dressing) I smear a dab on the grooves of the arbor.
The stuff lasts all day, and cleans up with Gun Scrubber.
I used the stuff for years, (and Bore Butter for the wads) , in reenacting firing blanks never had a gun foul up.

The 45 Colt OT must be something brand new I had not heard of them....
I suppost, I'll stick with my 45 Sch. being hows I already have it....and it's matched to the Spencer.

I always thought that it was stupid on the part of Uberti to chamber this somewhat fragile revolver for rounds that can be bought off the shelf that will turn them into a grenade, e.g. Corbon, Garrett & Buffalo Bore .45 Colt "magnumized" hunting rounds. You just know that some idiot is going to do it.  :o KABOOM!!! Oh well, it's hard to sue an overseas company.  ;D

On purpose ?
The same holds true for the wag that loads those rounds in any of the current CAS offerings.
Up to and including the New Ruger Vaquero.

Idiots abound, those that load Magnum buckshot in Granddad Damascus Barreled SXS.
Or the guy who uses Smokeless in a BP frame anything....

They (idiots) also leave loaded guns for an inquisitive child to find , Drink & Drive or vacation in the Middle East   ::)

Educated, informed, know the parameters for any firearms you handle, don't exceed those parameters.
