Much fun was had at the SASS Regionals in Mission, British Columbia, Canada.  The Mission Rod and Gun Club cowboy shooters hosted one fine event.  Check out their web site at http://www.missionrodandgun.com/disciplines/Frontier/results/2006regional/2006SASS_regional.htm

There were only 6 Darksiders at this match and we convinced the organizers that all 6 were needed to compete in the 4 Man Team Shoot.  One hundred rounds in total - one hundred knock down targets with some no shoot targets in the mix.  Between the six of us we had 40 pistol rounds and 60 rifles rounds.  We didn't get no prize for our efforts other than the satisfaction of shootin together and making lots of smoke.

I have posted some pictures for your enjoyment as a slideshow at http://img223.imageshack.us/slideshow/player.php?id=img223/6661/1158526123nsy.smil.

I also have a video which is far more impressive and if I ever figure out how to get it from tape to digital I'd love to share it with you.

Hey Sunwapta Haze,

I'm glad ya posted the picture.  Now, I'm thinkn' ya Canadians is way too thin,  yer props ain't shot up and yer hay bails is far to neat.  Why, I'd have to loose some weight and polish up my guns before I cud shoot with such a spit and polish outfit. . .  :)

Looks like you pards did have a good shoot and a great time.  Now, don't be sendin' no "Canadian cold front" this way till we get the tomatoes picked.  Well ok, send one to Minnesota but not to Wisconsin jest yet.

Dick - We're not all as slim as you might think.  If'n ya check out the posse pictures at the Mission Rod and Gun Club site you'll see that there are some cowboys with considerable girth.  Mind ya one of the bigger boys was indeed a Yank out of Nevada but he was balanced off by a talk slim gentleman from Arizona.

As for sending down an Alberta Clipper I don't think ya needs to worry about that just yet.  We have had a bit of a cool spell here but it is supposed to warm up nicely over the next few days.  Shot a monthly last Saturday and it was a tad chilly (about 45 degrees F) and rainy.  I managed to stay pretty warm but I wasn't dressed like no 1880's cowboy niether.  I will however blame the conditions for some of my misses - my front sight was dancing a bit as I had to remove my sheepskin coat to shoot the stages.

A high of 45 degrees here is considered "dead of winter". That's mid January talk. We're doing 70s with a north wind and people are wearing jackets.

Aw shucks NozzleRag, 70 degrees is a pleasant summer day around these here parts.  I don't much like it when the temperature gets above 75 - way too hot for me.  Course I don't much like our mid-January weather either when it can get as cold as minus 40.  Fortunately that don't happen too often and more often than not we have nice sunny winter days with temperatures in the mid 20's.  Every once in awhile it'll even get up above freezing for a day or two.  Heck, when I was driving a convertible the top would come down when the temperature got above 50 as long as it wasn't raining.

When I was a tad younger I took a trip down to California in October.  Us Canucks got some real funny looks when we was prancing around in our shorts and tees.  All the natives was wearing sweaters and heavy coats.  But we was a hardy lot and went swimming in the ocean and had the beach all to ourselves.  Now that I'm a bit older and perhaps a bit wiser I don't carry on with such foolishness no more.  Now if I want to go swimming in October I head for the Carribean.

Don't get me wrong, we have some sub-zero days as well. Just not that sub and it doesn't last for long. We don't have ice fishing because we never have enough ice to walk on.  It's hard for us to visualize the frozen ponds, lakes and streams just a few hours to our north.
Oh well. Vanilla and chocolate.
