Introduction and Model 58

Hi guys,

   First I would like to say I have enjoyed this forum very much.  For years I have wanted a black-powder gun and these forums were very helpful in giving me good informaton on my purchase.  After reading many of the threads here I went up to Cabela's Ft Worth and bought a Pietta Rem 58 in .44.  Man, what a blast to shoot.  I was amazed at the tight group the weapon was capible of holding, and overall the fit and quality of the Pietta was very good.  This is my first revolver, and certainly my first black powder weapon so I dont know how it compares to other revolvers, but is impressive when compared to any of my more modern military handguns.  I must say I think my next purchase will be a shoulder stock, and maybe a cheap military style holster.  I would really like a  display box like many of the old origonals had, so if any of you guys know where I can find one, please let me know.

Congratulation fellers on you choice of revolvers. I don't believe anyone makes a shoulder stock for the Remington revolver. Stocks are available for some Colt models.

Ah, another pair of Remington addicts. Congratulations. Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to your posts.

I've shot colts, muzzle loaders and Remingtons. The Remmies are by far more accurate than most. Mine are the most accurate pistols I own and that's compared to both modern designs and replicas. Of course, I don't own one of those fancy .22 cal hot rod competition match pistols but, other than that, they're as accurate as you can get. Tack-nailers.

Bull is right, that stock is for the Colt models. I don't know if it could be modified to fit a Remington. You may have to pick up one of the Remington Revolving rifles if you want a shoulder stock.

I only got my Remington yesterday, but to day it has a stock
fit to it.  Same stock as my old .36 navy. I had to make a new
screw for it and will cut a recess in the butt of the grip like
my navy has.

I have not shot it yet but I sure do like it.

I know that EMF had a supply in stock at Christmas time as I was going to get one, but I traded for an Uberti Carbine and dropped the plans for a shoulder stock for my '58's      Dixie Gun Works stocks them also, same one that fits their Colt Armys.  I would guess that they come with replacement Shouldered Hammer Screws. as that is how they mount.

Welcome to SCORRS Fellas. The 1858 is a fine revolver. Something about it just wants ta make ya tinker with it. I stole.....err.......bought my first one with an R&D conversion and within a month I had bought another and ordered a ported Kirst converter for it. I must admit it took me about a month to get up the guts to cut that loading port though! It came out very well, as in why didn't I do it sooner, and both revolvers are great shooters. They're only drawback is the nut behind the trigger !
