Got a friend what was born 'n raised in England.  Durin' a party a couple years ago he said it was Thanksgiving.  A celebration of the day y'all got rid of us ungrateful twits.....

Back in the 1800s that bolded part had not yet been added.  If we are going to be PC (Period Correct), we should leave it out. We all know how impoertant it is to be PC.  ;)

Yes ma'am.  The last change to the Pledge of Allegiance occurred on June 14 (Flag Day), 1954 when President Dwight D. Eisenhower, after a campaign by the Knights of Columbus, approved adding the words "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance.

This is thought to have been a response to the concern over Communism and Communists in the United States.
