Okay ,here I go showing my ignorance,
This afternoon I was fooling with the new Sharps when I decided to drop the carrier and check everthing in preparation of slugging the bore.
The carrier dropped down fine but as I pulled it free something fell of onto the floor.i looked down and there was a small metal disc.
There was a recess on the rear of the carrier that I assume it fits into. from what i can gather it is called the rear bolt assembly disc.
Can some one tell what part it plays and is it supposed to be so loose that it just falls out. Looks to me like it would be real easy to lose in the field.

Don,

What kind of sharps (manufacturer, model & caliber) ?
A photo of your parts may be helpful.

I have a Pedersoli & I recall when I remove the block there are 3 "loose" parts in hand (1) block (with lever dangling), (2) Lever Pin, (3) Extractor.

From there, seems I have to remove a screw to get the mult-piece firing pin (stuff) out of the rifle. I believe originals had a one-piece FP.

Edit to add:
just saw your post on the "cheep Sharps Club"...sounds like an EMF ( I guess an IAB) & in 45-110.....careful not to hurt yourself with it - I hear they kick just a tad more than my 45-70  ;)

I'm not familiar with these Sharps, so a photo woudl be most informative to me.

Regards,
Slim
