Captain Bob Masterson

Hello the fire.

I picked up a leather shotgun shell belt made by Triple K at Sportman's Wharehouse. It is very oily feeling, is there any way to seal or get this excess oil out of the leather?

Thanks,

I'm going to give this a shot.
I bought a Triple K Holster that was so oily it bled (evenly I might add) into my new made Herman Oak Ranger belt.
The result was slightly darker belt and a way less oily holster.
From that (not so bad woops) I learned someting...

Place your loosely coiled Shotgun belt in a container that is higher than it.
Cover over with dry Oatmeal , allow the oatmeal to get to every surface.
The Oatmeal will draw the excess oil out.
Oh yeah , it takes about a week and maybe stur the oatmeal to get the dryer flakes next to the leather.

when planets align...do the deal !

Sounds like a good idea. I'll bet the oatmeal tasts kinda ratty after that. :D

Warm up the dry oat meal (and keep it warm), this will help accelerate the drawing of the oil out. You can even put the belt in the oven on a towel or something absorbent and use a temp. of 95-120 degrees and cook the oil out (preferabbly an electric oven no flame). Keep a close watch, you do not want it to get tooo dry, or you will be saddle soaping or re-oiling trying to soften it back up.

When i use to fly radio control aricraft we used kitty litter to remove castor oir from rubber bands and such.  Works very well.
