Hi folks, New guy here.
I have an original Spencer, and I bought a conversion falling block from S&S.
The S&S catalogue says something like fits 99% of originals with no fitting.
Well, I have the 1%
The block will just not fit in the action, it seems to be too thick.
Has anybody else had this problem?
I guess one would just mill down the sides of the block, right?
Thanks,

Jdzara,

Try these links from earlier SSS posts. All deal with converting original Spencers with S&S replacement blocks.  Hope this helps. By the way, are you going to join SSS?  Let me know by registering on the first post or Emailing me.

Hi!   I've fitted two blocks and have pretty well figured out the best procedure.  I have posted the directions and that may be in those links.  If you have any problems send me a note.  These things work great, just takes a little to sort them out.

Hi Tubac -
I'm glad you got your S&S block to work.  Mine was in the other 99%. Is yours a '65 carbine or an older 56-56?

You should consider investing in a repro tube, or at least a follower that you can flatten the nose on so you don't have accidental discharges with the center-fire cartriges in the tube. I bought a whole tube, as the spring in my original was REALLY weak, and the tube was a little chewed up.  There were a lot of reasons why I could afford it when I bought it.

Would love to hear how it shoots.  'Gotta love the old girls.
