I did papers on a new Chiappa Spencer carbine today in .44-40 Win at my LGS. Looked real nice, but for one spot about 1 inch in diameter on the buttstock that looked like a rub thru the finish, not sure how. Rifle comes in the hard case they seem to ship in, my .45 S&W came in one also.

Sadly due to WA state waiting periods and a holiday and weekends in between, I wont be able to bring it home until the 21'st of this month!

When I have it I will post up a couple of pics.

I had planned to shoot the .45 S&W tomorrow, but we are getting snowed on and its cold, so may not be able to do that, its a 30 mile run each way to the range.

I haven't bought a long gun since the new laws went into effect. I forgot that there was a waiting period for them now too (in addition to pistols). 

Congratulations, though!  We're looking forward to pictures and maybe a range report.

Yeah, it angers me, but hasnt really slowed down my purchase rate by much.

10 business days for all firearms, black powder muzzleloaders are considered antique so are still exempt from the nonsense.

Finally got it home just now after the waiting period with weekends and holidays stretching it out to over 2 weeks total.
First impressions are positive, though its different from my other one in .45 S&W which has two side extractors. I looked inside this and didnt see any! Got the manual out and see extractor in the parts list, see the little tiny picture of it, look closely at this gun and had that 'Oh there it is' moment. Single extractor at the bottom of the chamber! But hey it works. 
Also different in that this one can be direct chamber loaded, where the .45 cannot, the extractor difference? Either way its a preferred feature to be able to chamber load.
Found a little check in the wood up at the buttplate tang, pretty sure its just a natural check, but its obvious so at some point I may dribble some glue into it if it starts opening at all. We shall see.
I like the way this one balances better than the bigger bore .45, .44 WCF is a smaller hole, so more metal up front, just plain balances better.
