I hope you have found this series interesting.
It is NOT meant to glorify these pieces of history, only to enlighten.

I didn't realize Fromme used an actual 1911, not an A1.  Cool.

Sure a lot of assassinations with .22 cal.

Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin of Israel attended a peace rally in Tel Aviv's Kings Square on Nov. 4, 1995.
Yigal Amir, a young far-right Israeli Jew shot Rabin twice, once in the arm and once in the back. Rabin died hours later in a nearby hospital.
Amir used a Beretta 84F semi-automatic pistol loaded with a mix of regular and hollow point bullets.
Amir claimed that the prime minister wanted "to give our country to the Arabs."

An attempted assassination was made on President Franklin Roosevelt in Miami, Florida, on the evening of Feb. 15, 1933.
Italian immigrant Giuseppe Zangara approached and fired five shots intended for the president.
Zangara missed his target and hit mayor Anton Cermak of Chicago and four bystanders instead.
The mayor died of his wounds 19 days later.
Zangara used a five-shot .32 caliber United States Revolver Company pistol.

My grandfather, grandmother, and my Mom & Dad were in attendance as Roosevelt just had given a short speech. Two of bystanders were near my folks.

Not exactly sure about the pistol, but what about Gavrillo Princep's weapon?

Hair Trigger Jim

I enjoyed the series.  I wouldn't mind seeing them again, and I'm sure somebody else will want to see the pictures.

It was the Browning FN 1910 that Gavrilo Princip, a Bosnian Serb nationalist, used to shoot Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and his wife Sophie, as their motorcade passed through Sarajevo, killing both the date was June 28, 1914.

I resurrect this thread because I found this Video on U-tube, I found interesting.
There are landmark historical events for every generation.
The moments one remembers a lifetime, in some cases several.
Such is the case for my own Baby Boomer generation.
It was November 22, 1963 it was a Friday. I sat in Mr. Strokes science 9th grade class.
It was the lase class of the day, when the news crackled of the antiquated PA system.
I could beardly understand the weak message. The 61 years since has fogged my memory of the event only slightly.
I don't recall if the school PA announcement, stated JFK was deceased or that I saw Walter Cronkrite in the CBS Special Bulletin.
I have in fact seen that Bulletin replayed several times.
I do remember coming home immediately after school and the NEWS was on the Television.
I have had the opportunity to visit the Book Depository Museum at Dealy Square.
It is sobering to go there, and pear out the sniper's window.
I have been to Arlington, and the Kennedy Memorial. Which for me, is somewhat overshadowed by Arlington itself.

I can remember almost with total clarity the event, and that of 911.
These are annals in time, such as Pearl Harbour just the mention brings back near total recall where you were.

Froogal

I was in 7th grade. We were all outside on noon break. The bell rang for classes to resume, and we all gathered in front of the building waiting for the doors to open and be let in, but instead, the principle came out and made the announcement of what had just happened. Some of the girls started crying. The rest of us just kind of stood there. The reality of the event hadn't really sunk in until I got home that day, and being 12 years old at the time, it just didn't seem that my life was going to change all that much. I did my chicken chores, played outside for a bit, and then went to supper.

But you have to wonder  ???  How the WORLD changed.

Would we have been as involved in Viet Nam as we were with Johnson?

Surely, Kennedy would have had a second term. The Bay of Pigs fiasco and the Russian Standoff still fresh.
Would Nixon have prevailed in 68?

Ben Ladan was the mastermind in the 1st World Trade attack, what if Clinton had served fatal judgement retribution, then?
Instead, he was left to carry out Sept. 11.

History is so interwoven with the present.

Mogorilla

Mine would be January 20, 1981.  I was a freshman in high school sitting in a study hall I did not want to be in, but I did not want to be in the 2nd semester of typing either.  I took enough to get to computer programing.    They announced on the PA the Iranian Hostages had been released.  To the credit of a bunch of self absorbed teenagers, the resounding cheer and applause of ~425 high schoolers shook the building.  Later in the day we all went to the gym and they wheeled in 3 tvs and we saw them get off the plane.  You could see some looked rougher than others, so you knew who had been a PITA to the POS terrorists that kidnapped them.
To Major's point, what if Carter's rescue attempt had worked.  He probably would have gotten a 2nd term.  Reagan may never have served, Given his age was an issue.  Lots to ponder on that trail of thinking.

I did not feel old until i was in Grad school working on my MBA and i had to explain what had happened because Argo was at the theatres and my costudents did not understand.  When I mentioned being a freshman in study hall, i got not one, but two entreaties to Jesus wanting to know how old I was.
