Can anybody direct me to someone that can convert my Capt. Schaffer to a .38 Special? or any other .38?
Muchly appreciated. :)

An R&D drop in (https://www.taylorsfirearms.com/shop/firearm-parts-enhancements/conversion-cylinders.html?p=2) will be the short answer, they do come in Polished steel.
The next step a gated Kirst, I believe Gary Barnes @ Cartridge Conversions LLC. is your go to.

In any case you need to line the barrel to .357 or shoot heel-based bullets,
Or perhaps hollow base wad cutters.

Coffinmaker, should chime in I know he did drop in for his two Capt. Schaffers
when planets align...do the deal !

 :) Oh Hey!!  WOW ;)

Somebody Call Me??  Thought I heard my name??

Hey There RRio :D   You have basically two choices.  First up is a "Drop In" two piece cylinder.  As mentioned by Major 2, atz how I did my pair, I chose Howell Old West Conversions.  They are Stainless and include some tasty engraving.  I shoot mine Main Match for CAS, Loading .38 Special cases, with Hollow Base Wadcutters. I allow the top 16th inch of the bullet to show and roll crimp into the bullet body. Have found them to be quite accurate.

Next up is to convert with a Kirst Konverter.  The Kirst is also basically a "Drop In" with the exception of cutting the Loading Channel thru the Recoil Shield.  Cutting that channel can be a mite time consuming.  Also, the Capt. Schaffer barrel is 4 Inches.  The Ejector from Kirst is 4 and a quarter inches, so you won't have an ejector.  Yule be punching fired cases out with a rod.  Also, your choice for bullet is also a Hollow Base Wadcutter.  I have a friend sho has tried getting heel base bullets to shoot in a 375 bore conversion and it has been a nightmare.  I can't recommend going the route of the short period 38 cases and heel base.  SOOOOOO much easier to run 38 Special with HBWC.  Just my take.  Oh, I really like my Howell two piece cylinders.  Work a treat.

Thanks Coffinmaker,
This seems to be the option I want to go with, He  even has a pick of the gun the way I want it.

Absulamundo!!  Works really well and as an aside, from three or four feet out, the Peanut Gallery can't tell your shooting cartridges.  Gotta love it!!
