Got home from Florida a little while ago. Will finish unloading the bus tomorrow. Need to scrub about 17 pounds of bugs off it. Great visit with our g'niece and other family. Uncle Kevin got lots of hugs, so it was a great weekend for me.

Evening all. I'll stir the coffee.

Horse show went well. Wife had a little hiccup in one class, walked off with a fifth place ribbon for that one, but saved it in the next class with a first place. That one came with a $25 prepaid Amazon gift card. Almost offsets the money spent on the trip ::)

Finally got around to pulling the cast iron cookware out of the box. The 6" skillet had some rust on it, which got sanded down with 600 grit paper, and then the whole deal got a new season on it. I also bought a carbon steel skillet from Lodge, which is slated to arrive Thursday. If anyone has any tips on seasoning one of those, I'm all ears, otherwise it's just getting the same treatment as the cast iron.

Major, fema is a royal pain to work with. I do so regularly. Trust me, it's not any easier in person.

Evening all.

72 and sunny in the Golden State today.

Made the mistake of going to the local Sportsman's Warehouse today with money in my pocket. Ended up buying a Rock Island GI 1911. In my defense, it was on sale for $75 off sticker price, and with my 15% veterans discount, I ended up paying $310, plus tax and fees. Now I just have to wait for the 10 day state imposed torture period.

TK congrats on finding that Rock Island, they are very good shooters. Gorgeous day today, 81 and sunny. Looks to be nice the next couple of days, weather had a couple of cooler nights so the leaves are showing some pretty colors. Del, glad you're getting settled in.

Deacon is right on the money. Those are good shooters. I had one for Wild Bunch matches. It performed flawlessly, better than some 1911's costing twice as much. I gave it to my grandson when he was commissioned as 2nd LT in the USMC. Congratulations on a great acquisition.

I echo kudo's of your purchase of the Rock Island.
 10 or 11 years ago I purchased a Rock Island/Armscor - Cimarron 1911...
The finish was commissioned by Cimarron to Fords in Crystal River, FL.
At the time, there were Cimarron finished gun Gloss Blue, Blue and Nichol plate.
I opted for Gloss Blue.
The gun is still in my collection with at least 1000 or more rounds.
Only failed to fire was, was commercial Evil Roy boxed round that had no primer  ???

The Ford's finish is still in fine condition
when planets align...do the deal !

 :o Ooh, dat's plumb purty!

Came across some stag grips at work and brought them home for the mud puppy that I "Fitzed" last year [pics in the Gunoholic thread]. Power went out here for a couple hours but everything is working again.

Riley and I took our candy to the Trunk or Treat in the Church parking lot, he told me stuff was going on.  He got lots of petting and I got to meet more people and then the kids showed up and Robin told everyone I was her grandpa.
Kid, just season it like cast, will need touched up more.
