The Marcot Book is available from various dealers on www.abebooks.com with varying prices.  Got mine before Christmas from www.halfpricebooks.com for a reasonable price, and it looks like it was never opened.

As stated above, one can probably Inter Library Loan (ILL) most books through your local library.  I even received one on the .32 Winchester Self Loading Rifle that came from the Library of Congress.

Seems like I've seen people griping about Uberti's twist rate in the 44-40 a few times over the years, don't remember any details, but I think it was on this site.

Quiet here, but at least my question has been glanced at 62 times. One must keep hope alive.  ;)

The Winchester Model 1892 / Re: Slicking up a Rossi 92

Okay, the safety has never caused me a problem, but to remove it is simple. Drive out the pin and lift the switch out. Have someone donate a .25ACP case and trim it to about 1/8" and use Blue Locktite to hold it in place. PS: a Winchester case looks "right" for this.

The Winchester Model 1892 / Slicking up a Rossi 92
Last post by Niederlander - January 06, 2025, 01:37:44 PM
Gentlemen, I've got a Rossi 92 inbound to serve as a pickup gun.  I plan to slick it up by smoothing up the moving parts and changing the ejector spring, putting in a stainless follower, and will probably remove that silly safety.  Has anyone changed out the trigger spring?  I'm going to keep the hammer spring stock, as I'm all about reliability.  Any other suggestions?

Spencer Shooting Society / Spencer parts
Last post by Fazer - January 06, 2025, 10:22:19 AM
I was digging through one of the parts boxes looking for a screw. Came across a small bag in the bottom. Are these all Spencer parts, the extractor looks right. Not sure where they came from. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Sooo, I was just looking at Uberti twist, land and groove dimensions for their 1873s in .44-40 and encountered two wildly different sets of specifications.
Dixie says their Uberti 73s have a 1:36 twist, .004"-deep rifling and land diameters of ..424 and groove of .432.
Cimarron in their Uberti chart lists the following for .44-40 rifles: 1:20 twist, .4215 land and .429 groove.
Is Dixie all wet, or does Uberti make two different .44-40 barrels for their Model 1873s? This does not make sense.

 :) Aw Heck ;)

A couple of minor delays.  I'm trying to source a "replacement" set of Main Springs.  The Main Springs in this Sample Example are Coil Springs, and before I go molesting the springs, I want to have a "back-up" set just in case (I might screw 'em up).  Plus, the Lock Works appear some complistacated in the "explode" view of parts   :o

It will be kinda slow to shoot until I can source some parts but at my age "Speed" is NOT an issue  ::)   That microscopic front Bead gotta go though.
