Title: Question on 1860 Henery
Post by: Bristow Kid on January 29, 2006, 10:34:29 AM
I found a umberti 1860 Henery repro in .45 Colt.  Its never been fire and was priced around 650.  My question is.  The action that is brass on all I have ever seen was case colored on this one.  Is that an original option on these guns? Thanks for all help.

Kid, like the Major said that's a great price.  The first Henrys were made with iron frames but because of various problems they switched to a type of bronze or gun metal similar to what canaons were made of.  The originals are rarer than the so called brass framed ones.  An the reproductions are more expensive.  $650 would be a great price on a brass frame it is real good on an iron frame.

Buy it and if you don't like it I'll buy it from you at a $50 profit.  I'm serious by the way.

I've never seen a CCH '66, but there are a few Henrys with CCH receivers.  At that price I'd jump all over it...then I'd sell it for a profit.
;D  ;D  ;D

Don't buy it, it's a rip off. "Let me buy it and I'll give that guy a piece o my mind."

I'm not surprised, the last one I saw, was on consignment in my FFL's shop @ $1100 .
I tried to wrangle a trade, no soap :( , the owner needed cash.
A day or two later he got his cash.

oh well ! I suppose luck of the draw ...

Ya snooze, ya lose. If you had checked your thread about a half an hour after you posted it you might be the proud owner of a Henry now. When you have a chance at a gun & need to ask questions you need to stay on top of it. Bargains go real fast, especially on line.

Well Cornel it was a matter of having the money for it when I saw it.  And since I plan on shooting NCOWS I wanted to make sure it was authentic.  Heck theres one in the CASCity classifieds right now.  So if you willing to lend me the $1000 plus he wants for it I would be glad to purchase it.  And I checked the one I missed might possible still be for sale from the gun that baught it.

Bristow, since your going to be a NCOWS pard, buy your long guns from Rezac's in Valapariso, Nebraska, even if you don't want to drive over, they will be cheaper even with a transfer fee at your local FFL.  Phone number is 402-784-3557, open Wednesday through Saturday...  ask for Joel and tell him WymoreWrangler sent ya, and he'll charge you an extra ten dollars... ::)
