Hit 71 here today and sunny, but the temps are gonna get back to normal this week. Been breaking in a new carry gun, switching to a lighter gun for my daily carry, a Sig P365XL with a red dot optic on it. 12+1 rounds of 9mm that is really slim and much lighter than my beloved 1911 Commander.

Morning! At least it's morning here, soon to be hot and humid. "Here" happens to be in the Philippines, been visiting the wife's family. Currently, we are at a hotel in Tagbilaran City, but spent the last several days at the family's home town of Sevilla. No internet there except by cell tower, which I have no way to connect to. It's 6:15 AM on Monday here, still Sunday at home, though. Be here about another week.

What's the Flight time to Philippines, is it direct from Calif. or layover in Hawaii ?
Title: Re: Marching toward Spring with Cawfee,Tea and vittles

This time flight time was just over 14 hours, for the leg from Seattle to Manilla. The actual flight route goes near the Aleutian Islands, and off the Russian coast, past Japan to Manilla. Doesn't make sense when you look at it on a flat map, but on a globe it does. This was the first time I've had a direct into Manilla flight, usually there's a layover in Korea, Japan or Taiwan, depending on which countries airline you use. Last time I flew Philippine Airlines, (16-17 years ago) they had a "refueling stop" on Guam. I guess that since they've switched from 747s to 777s, they have more range and can fly non stop.

Pouring rain here today, quiet here as LadyC is getting ready for her colonoscopy tomorrow. Had a customer bring the cutest blue heeler pup into the shop yesterday, stole all our hearts as he was a friendly little guy.

Greeting from Big Sky Country.

Here for my quarterly pound of flesh for Uncle Sam. Looks like it's my last, myself and a few others around all have been nonretained. Mixed feelings on that one. I guess I'll head home and cry in my DD-214 about it. Maybe even join the VFW.  ::)

The trip out was an experience. Uncle Sam decided greyhound was cheaper than United, so I've spent the past 2.5 days with my rear in a bus. Had a 5 hour layover in Butte, MT, and other than that my only time not in a normal sitting position was the 20 minutes it took to switch busses. What do bus passengers have against showering?

Blizzard is over, not sure how much, 65-70 mph gusts. Got Brown Dogs nails clipped, and ears cleaned, some supplies picked up and slid in back home as the snow started.  Went to Johnson one of many meat markets around and got this, all different, $47 worth but I'm stocked for a while on lazy suppers. ;D

With my father, being a Slovenian, I grew up in a Slovenian neighborhood in Milwaukee. There were several Slovenian grocery stores in the area. They all sold homemade smoked Slovenian Keilbassa. It was to die for. Truth be told, I'd rather eat smoked Slovenian sausage than the finest steak.

Hard to find here in florida. My son is going to buy a smoker and maybe I'll try my hand at making my own. I'm seacrhing for recipes and so far I've found this one: https://www.raddellssausage.com/blogs/news/the-art-of-making-slovenian-smoked-sausage

All those local small store sausages are good, or at least I never found any that wern't. Worth a little extra for what you get.

Yes, the local stores were great. Eventually, all of the Slovenian Grocery stores closed. We started going to a sausage store on Milawaukee's south side https://onmilwaukee.com/articles/eurosausage12  His sausages were were as good as you could get. I also enjoyed shooting the breeze with Frank. Eventually, he also closed for good. I may have to make my own.

Still in Montana, here through Wednesday.

Not much to report. It's been pleasant weather, at least above freezing. Been mostly a game of "find the person," getting signatures on my out processing paperwork. Still 2 signatures left.

Y'all stay warm.

Well, I kinda feel guilty to report that it was sunny and 78 here today and tomorrow is supposed be the same. Work was crazy Saturday and today. But that is good because it has been slow. Proved today that you can put a really good edge on a Victorinox Swiss Army knife as I slipped and just barely kissed my thumb with my blade and slit myself pretty good, so I was wearing a nitrile glove all day so I didn't drip on the guns. I did find out that the glove really helps with grabbing and opening the plastic bags we use.

Back home at last! Went from 80s in Philippines to 50's in Seattle, then 70s at home. Visited lots of family, the Girls met lots of cousins. Several beach days. Return trip went well except for security hassles. First off, Dear Wife packed some spare batteries for her camera in a checked bag. But not a suitcase, nooooo not so simple. We had too much junk stuff so we packed a cardboard box, complete with a half roll of packing tape and about 50 feet of twine wrapped around it, with lots of knots. And that's where the batteries were. Sooo, half hour later we got that fixed, then off to Manila. Then while boarding the next flight to Seattle, the pull us aside telling us we have to go open up one of our bags for inspection-again-, but this one's a regular luggage. Looking for an "aerosol can". Turned out to be a perfectly acceptable can of shaving cream. In the checked bag-because it's not allowed in the carry on. Then we had to come back through the security scan-again-and run back to the plane. Then upon arrival at Seattle, it took them 90 minutes to get all the luggage off the plane. Ang guess which bag was the LAST bag off the plane? Then an overnight layover at the Best Western, and a smooth last leg of the trip. Alaska Airlines Guarantees to get the baggage all on the carousel within 20 minutes, and they delivered.

Been a long time, we all know not to go to a gun shop with "extra money" on the card as in the bills are all paid.  All Gopher Grease's fault, was going up #50 and wanted to know if I wanted to ride to Lincoln.  Well I did, but he lied, we were going close to Lincoln but outside their sales tax.

Wandering around looking at the latest from Matell since they had no 32 mag or 22 Hornet.  Of in a corner in a sea of plastic and anodized 'lumminum I spot a little bit of blued steel and real walnut. A few I liked, but only one I needed.

A fairly nice Remington 513T with the Redfield Olympian sights for $550 on consignment, they called, no lower.  Paid for it, but have to get the new address on my drivers license.

Day after returning from vacation, water heater croaked. Amazon lists new circuit board for $169-189. But a week to 10 days of no hot water not ok. Will check local plumbing supply today. Probably should replace the heating elements, too. Option 2: Lowes lists new 40 gallon water heater (same size as what is there) for $389. Labor on either will be mine.
