Another month closer to the evil white stuff and the last 3 CAS matches of the year for me.
Been listening to an owl outside with my daughter who woke up with a bellyache (she's getting over being sick). Happily she loves owls.
My wife also startled a large raccoon off our deck, where it was enjoying our catfood.
So we're well on our way to October here, even though we still have over half an hour of September left.

72, heading for 103 today. I guess the weather didn't get the memo.
Yesterday, I took my crew to another station for an all day class. I already have this class, so I spent most of the day on the back porch of the station tearing apart an old saw to figure out what was wrong with it. Turned out, it looks like someone ran straight gas in a 2-stroke, and the piston/cylinder are scored enough to grate Parmesan. Hopefully we can get some funding to get that repaired, because it's supposed to be my saw ::)
Mrs TK has a Dr appointment today, so I'll tag along for that, for lack of other things to do.

Howdy all. Supposed to hit 88 today. Getting a couple of estimates for a new roof, do damage or leaks, but it's 15 years old and we want to avoid those problems. Maybe take the Missus out to dinner tonight.
Left the trailer yesterday, will be into my apartment tomorrow evening. At my daughter's in a nearby smaller town. Just slept most the day, needed the rest.

I took my bride out for dinner yesterday at an Italian Restaurant. The food was so-so and way too expensive for what you got. My bride is Italian, a good cook and good judge of Italian food. She thought the sauce was on the sour side, not like her grandma used to make. The highpoint of the meal for me was the Italian beer. Hope you have a better experience than we did.

Strange weather here in the great southwest.
We have a huge crop of pinions and scrub oak acrons falling all over the new deck.
We had some good rain for a few days a week to ten days ago. Then the drought started again.
Couple days ago we had what looked like it could be a great rain but it came like a sneeze.
Big drops, all at once and lasted about two minutes.
Time to buy that 3000 gallon tank for the well. Fill slowly and have a resevoir.
On the bright side, we are hearing owls at night, ravens telling us the days news, and deer prints up to the back door. Some bear prints, but, praise the lord, no cougar prints. Yet.
Last year the neighbor across the street saw a cougar on one of his late evening strolls.
He told everybody alllll about it, and evry person then gave him a detailed analyis on everything
that he had done wrong, lol . So, except for him, we are all packing when we wander about. He is carrying a rake ;D

Morning, All! 45 degrees here, high of 56 Cloudy so far this morning, almost NO chance of rain. Freeze warning tonight-but yesterday we already had a light frost. Made some sorghum syrup last night, a little more to do today. Second year doing it, grew some cane in the garden, run it through as hand cranked Chinesium/Amazon mill, cooked down over a fire in the yard.
Got our power back at 4:00 AM this morning. We live in a 55+ Condo community. The Condos are constructed of concrete block with stucco on the outside. They held up pretty well to hurricane winds we had. Due to the extreme amount of wind and rain, some of my friends had water come in through the foundation and lost shingles. Others living near or on the water had terrible damage and devastation. We were lucky.
As my good friend, Major 2 said "I feel truly blessed, I feel we were watched over and spared"
Got the new roof finished today, they did a very nice job overall, couple of details need attention but pleased overall. Discovered a woodpecker had torn up the back of our shed, so had to plug those holes today too. Ah, the joys of being a homeowner. Got home from Lincoln about 4, took a bit of a nap, and working on supper, potato, onions, bacon and cheese, twist tonight, got potato sausage links on top. I keep cooked yellow tater in the fridge and can make a quick bake or fried taters.
Made a cherry slump last night in the 8. Cheated and used canned pie filling. Takes less than 5 minutes to make then just bake.
Been doing these in the 5" camp oven in the stove oven, 2 apples cut up, a crust and bake.
Looks yummy, Cherry Pie is my weakness, well that and blueberry Oh! Key Lime ;D
Got cold nosed like electric shock, and a lick awakening.

Good Evening to all Y'all,
I shot my last CAS match of the year today. I did much better than last weeks disaster where I had 14 rifle rounds not fire,I did reloads on all of them and ended up with only 1 miss, but stage times in the 90 second range.Today my rifle worked perfectly and I had 1 miss, I was 9th overall,2nd in category (Senior)so I'm happy with that. I used different primers (Winchester)and also gave the rifle a deep clean and fresh lube. Weather was chilly at first, but sunny and temps ended up in the upper 60's.All in all it was a great day.

Mostly blue skies but this one gray cloud had a boatload of wet in it.

Busy week, and yet I didn't accomplish anything ::) yesterday was a highlight. Took my parent's cat to the vet, and discovered he had a bacterial infection from what appears to be a bite on his back. He had to stay overnight, but they expect him to come home this afternoon.
Then last night while out hunting with my mom, we found a pair of abandoned dogs. They were very friendly, but also skinny. While pondering the best way to address the situation, another person drove by and decided to adopt them on the spot. So they at least got a happy ending.

Got the kitchen about done at least for now. Small but set up well.
Tried something last night I never made, used the leftover taco meat. Some call it stacked enchiladas, Tex-Mex lasagna, I used the 10 inch flour ones they make in store in Lincoln, they fit my 10 stovetop. I think I need to get a 6 inch when I get my bills paid for the 6 inch corn ones.
Decided to try it in a 10 because they fit and wanted something different. No idea really why but much better than the rolled burritos I normally use with the leftover taco meat.

I'm sure they are getting RICH off people's plight.

TOO busy funding illegals, I suppose.
Sure, I know many have trees down or worse :o and I can wait, but at least answered the phone with a recording and allow me to get on some kind list.
Got home from Florida a little while ago. Will finish unloading the bus tomorrow. Need to scrub about 17 pounds of bugs off it. Great visit with our g'niece and other family. Uncle Kevin got lots of hugs, so it was a great weekend for me.
Evening all. I'll stir the coffee.
Horse show went well. Wife had a little hiccup in one class, walked off with a fifth place ribbon for that one, but saved it in the next class with a first place. That one came with a $25 prepaid Amazon gift card. Almost offsets the money spent on the trip ::)
Finally got around to pulling the cast iron cookware out of the box. The 6" skillet had some rust on it, which got sanded down with 600 grit paper, and then the whole deal got a new season on it. I also bought a carbon steel skillet from Lodge, which is slated to arrive Thursday. If anyone has any tips on seasoning one of those, I'm all ears, otherwise it's just getting the same treatment as the cast iron.
Major, fema is a royal pain to work with. I do so regularly. Trust me, it's not any easier in person.

Deacon is right on the money. Those are good shooters. I had one for Wild Bunch matches. It performed flawlessly, better than some 1911's costing twice as much. I gave it to my grandson when he was commissioned as 2nd LT in the USMC. Congratulations on a great acquisition.

10 or 11 years ago I purchased a Rock Island/Armscor - Cimarron 1911...
The finish was commissioned by Cimarron to Fords in Crystal River, FL.
At the time, there were Cimarron finished gun Gloss Blue, Blue and Nichol plate.
I opted for Gloss Blue.
The gun is still in my collection with at least 1000 or more rounds.
Only failed to fire was, was commercial Evil Roy boxed round that had no primer ???
The Ford's finish is still in fine condition
