Can anyone identify the manufacturer of the sight pictured on this rifle? I can't find anything like it available. Hoping a short or midrange version maybe available somewhere.
It is a Soule type sight made by several people. There are mid-range and long-range versions. Usually don't see them on cowboy lever actions. Check out Lee Shaver,

Talk to yer Broker first though.
The sight you show is a sporting tang sight rather than a soule type. The soule would have a windage adjusting base at the hinge.
I have checked all of the places mentioned with no luck on this particilar model. This is a fairly simple sight in that the elevation is adjusted simply by loosening the eye cup and sliding it up and down. Very close to one pictured in the Madis book on the Dodge's patent rifle pictured at the beginning of the chapter on the 1866. In the chapter on sights it is pictured and just called a "graduated peep sight."
I assumed the one pictured in my above post was a repop as it was mounted on a modern Uberti Henry that is currently on GB. I guess it could be an original though, explaining why I can't find it available anywhere. Although my gut tells me it is a repro Due to some minor differences
Below are some pics of the originals. .
After further research I have come to the conclusion that this is either an original or a very close repro made by Axtell Rifle Co. Unfortunately no longer in business. :(
:) Ah Well. You didn't really want one anyway. Didja ;)
As our good Kent (who knows more about these than I do) relates,it is called a
sporting tang sight
some had venier thingies on the side, others had simple range marks like a "ladder sight" would have.
such simple version could be found for winchesters, stevens, etc.

Thanks Professor. That gave me some other options. The one from Jeff's looks promising. Priced right too. Wonder if it will ever be in stock.
There is or was a fella in Sundance Wy that makes reproduction sights copied from the original sights. It's most likely given how deep the eyecup is, a relatively modern copy of a winchester sporting sight.
Looks really close to the one that comes on an H&R Officers model Trapdoor.
