Just picked up a new 45/70 carbine pedersoli. Sometimes in the right place at right time. I will use 300 grain bullets and triple 7. Suggestions on amount of powder that still knock our targets?
Fill the case to the base of the bullet, no compression. Probably around 50 grains by weight 2f 777.
We usually set the targets to go down with a .38 Special, so I don't think you'll have problems with that.
Thanks planning on having fun figuring it all out.
Dan, I've played with some lighter loads that require some veggie wads from midway and cornmeal... 35 and 40 grains with cornmeal to make up the extra space... I bet 30 would work for plinking around, but for distance you would want to spice it up...
