Title: Dakota Spring
Post by: Shotgun Franklin on January 22, 2015, 12:27:36 PM
Where might a person get a hand spring made for a SAA, Armi Jager "Dakota"?
The normal parts people don't have one.

Shotgun Franklin,

Suggestion on my part...
measure the diameter of the hand and spring pin, that fits into the hammer.
This is a very critical in being able to find hand and springs that will fit, or that you can make to fit your revolver.
These vary greatly within various manufactures.
My best,
Blair

Yeah, it's a guy I know. He's checked with everyone. VTI offered to 'fix' it for $200. He's ran out of ideas. I told him to check with a machinist or a spring making company.

Drill the frame and put in a Ruger plunger and spring.  Heck of a lot cheaper than $200.00 and it is a permanent fix.

Plus 2 to Pettifogger.  Eliminate that flat hand spring.  I have yet (16+ years smithing) to see a coil spring and plunger fail.
