Since we're only about a week from the beginning of November I'm sure lot's of you are wondering where the Sept/Oct magazine is with Ottawa Creek Bill's painting on the cover. About 2 1/2 weeks ago I learned that the printing shop didn't have our disk ::). Ideally I could have just burned a new one within minutes, well...if I hadn't accidentally saved some of the Nov/Dec files back into the Sept/Oct directory I could have. (I will be making two CD copies initially from now on) After reconstructing the corrupted files I took the 'new' disk to our NEW printing shop and after resolving a few compatibility issues we're on the verge of mailing it out and they should be leaving the Lincoln NE post office by the end of the week. The Nov/Dec issue will follow in another 2-3 weeks. Sorry for the delays, I'm confident everything is under control now.
Damn...
With this notice - there goes the 'surprise' factor.
I'm looking forward to reading them - whenever they arrive.
Thanks, George.

George,
Any chance you could bring some copies to The Muster?
That's the plan...PLAN, of course, being the inoperative word :P
LG,

Very nice, LG.
Congrats to you and to Ottawa Creek Bill.
Lone Gunman,
I'm really pleased with the way the cover looks, do you think I should bring the original painting to the Congress next month so those that want to can take a look at it? I've got it framed and matted and it looks real nice.

Actually NCOWS memberships, renewals etc are handled by George Glenn (who was Editor for the first 12 years) from our Eastern Headquarters in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Here at my "Western Field Office" I deal strictly with publications including The Shootist, our website, and other matters that benefit from a certain literary flair. It is the latter duty that has led to a very limited voicing of opinion. I regret that honestly, integrity and loyalty to the National organization is held in such low regard in some sectors. I have no regrets beyond that.
Lone Gunman,
Man thats a nice cover, who did you say painted that?? ;) As soon as the issue comes out I will have prints available for sale. We gave a framed and matted one away during the banquet at the eastern regional shoot and the lady was really pleased with it.
Bill
Hot Diggity! I can hardly wait! ;D
George, we know you run a full time business (hopefully for profit). I am very grateful for all your work and effort you put in. I will be happy when ever the magazine gets here Just as when George Glenn did it.

Thanks for the update LG, was wondering where it was, I know some neighbors get's my mail, this plus gun mags, harley mags, it gets to me when they are done reading it, lol.
All for now JD Trampas
Due to the fact that my last shoot of the season was the Midwest Regional, I am currently in bad shape. I'm going through detox due to a lack of cowboy shooting and winter isn't even here yet. I'm hooked to an IV of a Black Powder and Ballistol mixture and roll a couple of Meister 200gr. .452's around in my hand while chanting my best impersonation of "Rain Man". The arrival of the Shootist should help to calm my nerves.
Lone Gunman,
George
St. George pm'd me this morning and said he received his copy of the shootist, have they been mailed out??
Bill
I had the pleasure of receving the latest copy of the Shootist (http://www.ncows.org/Shootist.htm) and it is a member benefit that makes it well worth to either be an NCOWS member or just a subscriber. The Shootist is also available through a straight non-member subscription at the rate of $30.00 a year ($43.00 outside the USA). If you're not interested in joining NCOWS at this time, but think you might like The Shootist, just fill out the subscription form (http://www.ncows.org/Shootist.htm#Subscription%20Information%20and%20Form) on the NCOWS website.
Lone Gunman will update you on the distribution status, but here is what you will find in the latest issue:

Marshall Holloway,
I do receive the shootist, but some of us have not received our current issue and I am anxious to see the cover of the magazine since it is from a painting I did for NCOWS which will be raffled off at next years convention.

I seen a copy at the GAF Muster, it's there on the cover (http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php?topic=5222.msg61374#msg61374), Lone Gunman did not forget. ;D
Del,
I didn't say he did..........whats your point?
OCB
Why Bill for someone who likes to post "tongue in cheek" you don't seem to reconize it in others. ;D
Perhaps it is time fer the Marshall to get us that "tongue in cheek" icon to click on, it would avoid a lot of confusion. ::)
<Delmonico then goes to do more research with his tongue planted firmly in his cheek like it has been all morning.>
The Shootist has been in the mail for over a week, I just got mine yesterday & I'm only 40 miles from the PO where it was mailed. At least some folks in Lincoln NE got it last Friday. There may have been some delay because of the 'bulk mail' imprint on the cover. Even though it's been in the lower right corner for 12 years the Lincoln Post Office says that's wrong & it has to be above the mailing label instead of beside it. I've learned that individual Postmasters have a lot of leeway in what they choose to accept when it comes to bulk mail. They gave us an exception this time but said it had to be moved for future issues. I guess that's probably why Shoot!, BPCN & others have gone to an overwrap of plain paper. That's what we'll be doing from now on.
Sorry Bill, if I'd known that's how we'd end up packaging the magazine I would have started with this one so your painting didn't have to have a label plastered to it. Looking on the bright side, the next cover painting you do for us won't be marred by either the postage indica or a label. ;)
George,
MeGwetch, Thats all I wanted to know...another cover?.....hmmmm
Del,
TIC icon? good idea.............
Joss,
I've een the cover...just not the magazine

I'd be interested in learning exactly when some of you DO get delivery. While it would seem reasonable that they should radiate out equally from the point of mailing (Lincoln, NE) I''m not sure it actually works that way in real life.
I blame PETA, the stage drivers aren't allowed to crack the whip or yell at the horses anymore...they have to reason with them in a soft voice ;D
Steve and I have NOT recieved our copies of the Shootist either. But what's new. When we send items to the office in Cedar Falls, they are never recieved there.
