Title: Ozark Plateau Bullets
Post by: Gripmaker on July 25, 2012, 04:55:56 PM

Has anyone on this forum ever heard of these guys...Ozark Plateau Bullets?  I saw some of their products in a gunstore in Rogers, AR yesterday and wanted to buy some. However they only had them in lots of 500 and I'm not nearly dumb enough to buy that many and possibly find that my rifle won't shoot them worth 2 cents. I would like to contact them for a smaller quantity. I've already looked them up on Inet and was rewarded with a list of gunshops in NW Arkansas area. Some don't even carry their bullets.  SOOO, if anyone knows how to contact them please post it here for my sanity's sake.

gripmaker,
My quess is that they buy them from someone else for resale.

I would suggest contacting
http://www.whyteleatherworks.com/BigLube.html
for Big Lube bullets

He may sell you a smaller quantity.

Regarding longer distances for the 44-40, Accurate Mold offers their 43-215C mold which carries additional lube and I find that it shoots very well at longer distances. It has the same nose profile as the historic 44-40 bullet.  There is no one that offers that bullet for sale that I know of, however.

Hi,

I can also attest To Mark Whyte ... he once sent me 44 of a .45-70 bullet that I wanted to try out .... and he treated me as if I was buying several thousand ...

w44wcf,  Took a look at the bullet profile from Accurate Molds and I think I know someone who sells them. Matts Bullets out of Hardy, Arkansas has one that looks exactly lilke the bullet you spoke of even though it seems to have a slightly longer shank. He also has the only 44 hollow based wadcutter I have ever seen. It should be good for long range even though the BC probably sucks. Am going to call him Monday and see if I can get a small test order quickly (his posted turn-around is 6 weeks).
