Title: CAS-l Badge Disappointment
Post by: Presidio on September 06, 2005, 08:36:38 PM
Received my new CAS-l Badge today from Starpacker and ws kinda disappointed with the size of it. :-\  Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful work of craftmanship; jest a little more small than what I thought it'd be from lookin' at its' picture on the internet.  About two-thirds the size of the picture.  I kinda figured fer the cost of it ($37.50), it'd at least be the size of the regular SASS badge.  Course, I didn't see any dimensions given on the Starpacker site or I jest plain missed 'em altogether.  My fault. :-[

In case ya'll don't know the actual dimensions - here they are:  Top to Bottom  is 1 3/4"  Widest at Bottom is 1 3/8"  Center Medallion diameter is 5/8".

That's about what a badge of that size costs.  A larger one would have been double the cost.

I have had my Cas-L badge now for many years, it has always attracted attention and the comments are always positive.

I think it is a great badge.

I havta beg a disagreement with ya, Doc.  I'm a member of two other clubs here in Texas, bought badges from both and their about a third size or twice as big as the CAS-l badge fer about $25.00 each.  Like I said before, the CAS-l badge is a beauty hands down - jest thought it'd be a little bigger.  Still, all in all, it makes me proud to be a CAS member and show off my pride a little (no pun there intended) so Tensleep, I'm with ya' about it attractin' attention!

Well, the badges that I've bought from starpacker in that price range have been that size.  So that's what I was going on.

I haven't seen any badges of that quality that were larger and the same cost.  But that doesn't mean they aren't out there.

Howdy Presidio,

I am sorry that you got disappointed by the size of the badge. From day one we have advertised the size of the badge on both this site and at Starpacker. Size is 1 7/16" by 1 12/16".

Since you were mislead by the picture, I have now added a text on our page.

Thank you.

Jus got mine today and was very happy with it.  I knew that it was smaller than the average badge.  I'm sure I saw the demisions on the starpacker web site.  Course I had also seen Tensleeps too.

I keep thinking about ordering one, but haven't.  I don't know where I'd hang it at matches.

AnnieLee, wear it on a chain around your neck. It might just deflect that hot brass from going where you don't want it to.

Dang and I was going to suggest that it be used as a broach to hold the shirt closed.

Well, jest so ya'll know...my disappointment is over.  Got it on the left side of muh gunbelt with the SASS badge on the right (both next to tha pistola's).  Got so many compliments I was startin ta blush :-[ and alot of pards were asking so many questiions on where ta join up and get theirs, it was becomin' quite a job ta keep up with!

It may be small - but - it's powerful! ;D  I'm plenty satisfied with Starpacker.  My initial dismay is all gone ;)!

I got all excited when I read the dimensions!  I would love a smaller badge, I'm not too crazy about the size of the badge from SASS, as a non-gamer and more of a costumer (yes I'll admit it and be proud of it) that big badge can really shall we say "add interest" to an outfit.  I can see a smaller badge in my future!

I like my CAS Badge.  It's on my vest, right under my SASS Badge.  My SASS Badge has a problem.  The clasp won't stay closed and I'm forever reclasping it.  It keeps unpinning itself and I'm open for suggestions on how to fix this.
