Title: Rebarreling
Post by: JimBob on October 08, 2011, 06:35:20 PM
Have read about all the discussions about the repro Spencers and the twist rate problems and bullets available etc., I am giving some thought to rebarreling with an octagon barrel making a military rifle into a sporting type rifle.Anyone know who is capable of doing this kind of work on the Spencer. LOL I keep looking at those pictures of Spencers sporting rifles and ones converted to sporting rifles with octagon barrels and they sure grow on ya. ;D

I don't know if John Taylor (www.johntaylormachine.com) has done one, but I know he is more than capable.  He has done several barrel and reline jobs for me, and they were all top rate.  I have considered having John do the same thing to MY Spencer.....

Larry's the best.  I have one of his Spencer carbines.  Best gun I own.

It's not to hard to imagine a Spencer barreled and stocked like my Pedersoli Gemmer Sharps. It would look just like Liver eatin' Johnson's Spencer at the Cody Firearms Museum.  JW
