"For general hunting or Indian fighting, I consider my 1873 Winchester the BOSS"
Sounds like a paid endorsement, something Cody had no aversion to. :)
Well better that Winchester got their hooks into him than the tobacco companies. :D
"Nothing takes the edge off after a day of fighting injuns better than Lucky Strikes. Mmmm that menthol flavour."
Or, to speedup his earnings........
"After I strike a few Indians with UMC cartridges from my Winchester rifle, I strike a match for my Lucky Strikes." :D :D

"For general hunting or Indian fighting, I consider my 1873 Winchester the BOSS"
Still holds true today!! ;D
We need to keep in mind the 1873 was both a rifle (albeit a low-powered one by todays standards).....but it was a repeater, same as the 1866, which improved upon the revolutionary Henry Model....but moreso the 1873 embodied the improved .44-40 centerfire cartridge having a brass case, unlike the typical copper casings of rimfire ammunition. - Better cartridge case, reliable primer and a bit more punch from 40 grains of powder.
