Hello the board
Been lurking here for quite a while. The stuff I've learned here has been invaluable! But I've not seen this discussed and a search doesn't find anything.
Sooooo..... I've resurrected some Feibings antique finish I found at the back of my man cave and fancy trying it on a pair of holsters I'm making for my 1860s. The question is - do I still evoo over the finish?
Cheers

I would check your Fiebings dye before using, I had a new bottle that because of being old didn't give the color it was supposed to, so try it on some scrap leather from your project first, with the Fiebings Antique you need to use a sealer first after dyeing, or you will lose the finish when applying the oil, I've used a few very light coats of oil after sealing, and got nice results without darkening my work, you can also just use Skidmores Leather Cream over the sealer and you would be done, I prefer this method best, I'm sure there will be others that have some methods of there own that they will share with you.
