I'm with you Rick.

I needed a pound of powder out of my powder shed yesterday.

In the summer that is a 5 minute round trip, including opening the door and getting it.

Yesterday it was an hour long trek on snow shoes.

My dad grew up real close to where KT lives. He told me stories of having to crawl out of a second story window of the house to get to the barn in winter because the snow was banked up against the door.

I'll take Oregon rain any day!

JD your dad was right. After one storm we went througt the upstairs and shoveled to get to the barn . We didnt get to milk the cows till late in the after noon. The next day we shoveled to the hog barn and chicken koop to be able to feed them. It was 2 weeks before tne road grader got clear the road running past the farm so we could haul the milk to che creamery with the horses and they talk about the good old days. KT

I'd like to hear more stories about that, bein in Ca. all my life i could not imagine, about all we ever did was slide in the gutters when the water froze while waiting at the bus stop,it hasn't been that cold here for ate least 40 years, used to get so foggy you had a hard time seeing your hand in front of ya,but there is alot less farm land now and it doesn't get as foggy anymore.
