and thank you for your many years of service to our country! Here's wishing your retirement holds everything you are hoping for.
Are you kidding?!??
He's probably going to be busier than ever. ;D (But on his own schedule.)
But, likewise same sentiments. And eternal gratitude from families of missing soldiers.
Now, we get to needle a bit more if he misses any future Grand Musters.

Congrats, Scout
Just be real careful, as this retirement thing is a little overrated. Gitn to do whatever you want, when you want to. You know the important things like, playin with the grandkids, shootn, etc. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Congratulations on the retirement, sir! Hope to see you at the Department of the Missouri Muster this year!

Thank You for your service Sir, hope to see you at Jerry's in Aug.
Thank you all!!!
I'm sorry I haven't responded earlier but it seems one of my retirement gifts was a dose of the flu! (Better'n a dose of something else though...). I was pretty much down for the count the last few days - bummer of a way to spend New Year's Eve!
I am indeed looking forward to making a few trips west this year, to include making the Grand Muster and perhaps the NCOWS Convention (which I've really missed the last few years).
In some ways I will miss my job of the last 10 years of looking for our missing personnel, but it was time to move on. Fortunately, we have a lot of good people who are just as dedicated to that mission as I was.
The good news is that no more trips to the Middle East, no more last minute briefings to senior officials, no more cancelled leave due to mission requirements.

Congratulations Sir! As Cactus Rope said, just remember to spend your time on the really important people and things in life like family and shooting. Been spending a lot of time with new grandson of late and can't wait until he is old enough to teach to shoot (about six or seven more years...oh Lord give me patience).
Thank you for your extended dedication to the Military and the US.

Colonel,
The initial "honey do" list is all mine! I've got to clean our our basement storage room, then my den (and find my guns again), and then convert my daughter's bedroom into my new office.
Of course, the House CinC expects me to to take care of policing up the house and performing KP, so that will also keep me busy when not performing manual labor. ;D
The good news is that I can now sleep in until 0700 every morning!!! That is luxury after waking up at 0430 or so for the last 40 years. I'll take it.

Congratulations, my friend! It's quite a change when you finally hang up that uniform once and for all (unless you're like me, and spend the next 16 years of your life doing the same thing as a "civilian"!!!!!).
Enjoy your retirement...it's well-deserved!
Jake
Heartfelt congratulations. Good to be out of the sandbox for good I'd say.
(Mebbe we oughter restock the cabinet whilest CinCGAF is over the water . . .?)
Well, maybe we should get rid of the old stuff first..... THEN restock it.

Get rid of old stock; Restock; sample for quality on new stock; (resupply new stock as needed . . .)

Thanks Jake. Actually, I hung up the uniform 11 years ago though I found myself going into harm's way more as a "civilian" than I ever did on active duty.

A hearty Well Done! Welcome to the ranks of the retired! Glad that you made it through safely! I really hope that you can make it to the NCOWS Convention. Probably the last one in KC. We will have a mighty fine time.
Plus, there is the annual Whiskey Tasting Friday night after the steak dinner at the Golden OX. Y'all come on down here!!

Books, Dr Bob, and RCJ,
I certainly hope so. I've been looking into it and will probably book my flight and hotel later today.
I'll have just returned from Colorado Springs on Tuesday! I thought of just going direct but I need to be back home for Wed and Thurs, so will probably just fly back out to KC on Friday morning. However, with a bit of luck I'll arrive in time for the opening ceremonies.
This is always a busy weekend for me. I have things I should be doing in Jamestown and in Baltimore. But I thought it was past time to do something with NCOWS again.
