What thread do you use when you handstitch?
I use Artificial Sinew..
Depends on the project. For most holsters I use the waxed linen thread in either white, brown, or black. I like the contrast, so I often use a different colour depending on the colour of the item. I have used the artificial sinew as well, nice and strong, easy to split. I also use real sinew, depending on how authentic I want to be. Currently I am slowly piecing together a coyote face bag, using trade wool, and commercial smoked brain tan. For that I am using elk backstrap sinew I picked up.

Oh thought we were playin Password :( Carry on ;D
Recently I have switched to Barbour 5 strand linen thread in natural color and I dye it medium brown, as needed, and then wax it. Now guess where I got that idea?
Wiley ;D
I looked at going that way Wiley, but at 52 bucks a spool, I blinked twice and said I'll stick with what I'm doing now. It was more thread than I would likely use in two lifetimes.
Howdy Wiley
I switched a while back to the Barbour 5 strand, I do my own waxing, and I'm very happy with it, I owe Chuck Burrows for this one, this thread really is a quality thread. I made a mixture of bees wax and pine pitch for my thread wax, which also helps in preserving the thread.
tEN wOLVES :D
Yep, Ol Chuck sold me on the barbour. JD I'll never need to buy another spool, if my grandson takes up leather crafting he may never need to buy another spool...lots o thread.
