this past week my client supervisor and I were discussing purchasing a Segway for use by the officers, she wanted to know about safty so when she presented the Idea to her Boss.  She asked, what if someone falls off it and gets hurt.  I tolt her if they fall off it, then they were too stupid to work there.   She thought I was joking.

Unfortunately, she is smellin' the coffee. That has to be a consideration of hers. There's 'nuff that'll take gettin' out ah werk, paid, ta screw things up for e'erbody else.

'Oh, boss. I hurt my little self on that nasty thing you made me ride. Workmen's comp, please.'

God help ya if ya hit a poor, innocent citizen with one the things. Until the city settles the nuisance suit they'll be permanently disabled 'n in severe pain 24/7. After they get the check they'll enjoy a miracle 'n fully recover.

They bought a couple of those things, after I quit, to patrol downtown. Where they already had a well trained bicycle patrol. The things are so slow, the best thing to do if someone books is to get off 'n run after 'em. The bike guys will catch 'em.

Bikes are to big inside the building too many people, in the halls.   Arcey your right about the lawsuits someone is always looking for the edge.  One of these stupid @$$e$ would try to climb steps in it and say there was no warning label on it.

Arcey, they have added 3 wheel Segway's to the fleet down here now, I guess some of the fellers had a problem handling the 2 wheel models, even with the gyroscopes in them to help keep them level.

Trainin' wheels, Cuz?

Inside, good ole right 'n left foot-a-matic motivation is still the best. Don't require yer folks to wear pretty shoes. Deck shoes, available in black, we wore on the sailboats will grab the polished stone floors in offices downtown.

The most effective way to ensure security is puttin' people at key positions. That costs in additional personnel.

I'd pay good money ta watch some fool ride one them one wheel things ta go DOWN a set of stairs.

Supervisors need ta get 'round faster, get 'em a skateboard.

Gonna put this here 'cause I doan know where else... got it in tha mail today.

Dear Boss,

I have enjoyed working here these past years. You have paid me  very
well, given me benefits beyond belief, supplied me transportation  to
every place imaginable.  I have 3-4 months off per year and  a pension
plan that will pay my generous salary and supply health care and
medicine for my entire family for my life, and after my death, my  wife
will continue to draw that salary.

Despite this, I plan to take the next 12-18 months to find a new
position. During this time I will show up for work when it is
convenient. I fully expect to draw my full salary and all the  other
perks associated with my current job.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that if my search for this new job  proves
fruitless, I will be back with no loss in pay or status . Before you  say
anything, remember that  you have no choice in the matter. I can and will do this.

Sincerely,
Every Senator or Congresssman running for President.
Every Congressman running for the Senate

Try that at your job and tell me how it works  out.

Just read through this thread; the theme recalled to me some (un)fond memories of days of yore.  Seems I was always in hot water for speaking my mind.  I could tell you a lot of horror stories, but that would sound like I was complaining.  Suffice it to say that a lot of "minority" or other sensitive type folks did not like to be around me.

Tensleep, that is a good 'un.  I think I'll copy that, and re-do it and send it to all of my elected officials; they haven't heard much from me in a while.  At the end, I'll add:

"Oh, yeah, that is your job, isn't it?"

Need to remind them that they are not invisible; some of us still watch, whether we can do much about it, or not.

Back in 1948, we had folks vote several times down in South Texas, funny thing was that they had been dead for several years. That's how we wound up with LBJ as our US Senator.

well mine is gettin a spot back there on top in the back, got it sunburned once this summer, first time,  I figured one of these days it'd happen, Granddaddy was smooth all on the top,  Dad had this spot in the back before he passed away,  doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would at one time,   it's been gray for a while,  I can remember when I was about 16, it was entirely black and thick as could be, ma barber found a (one) gray hair, it's took a long time to get all gray.

one of the things that's bothered me more the last few years is the way it combs,  up until aobut 2 or 3 years ago it layed just where I combed it, the last coupla years it don't want to be combed, have to force it to control it. talked to the barber about it, says it happens about the late 50's to most guys,  hair starts to dry out and it don't remember where it was combed,  oh well,  I got plenty of hats I guess.

How did you guys get from "un-sens-itivitee" to hair loss?  Now that is a subject I know something about - NOT.  ;D ;D  I just measured my chin whiskers; they're eight inches long, or there abouts, and my head hair is hangin' down between my shoulder blades.  I am a bit thin on top, though; my scalp is suntanned - but I ain't "bald".  This situation runs in my family.  Now, color is another thing.  If I put on a cap to cover my darker head hair, I can pass for Santy Clause.  Only got's a leeeetle bit of dark left in my 'stache.  Hair is one fo my "long suits"; I have more hair on my body than a lot of fellers have on their head.   ::) ::) :o :o ;D ;D

Waylon weren't in the Crickets, but he was one of the guys that was sposed ta be on the plane that crashed.  He was tourin with 'em, Ritchie Valanz and the Big Bopper.  He lost a coin toss and had ta ride a bus--an he got ta live.  The other guy in the Crickets name was Maudlin.

Waylon was BK's bass player.  Buddy was on a solo tour at the time with out the Crickets. ;D

Jennings was born in Littlefield, Texas, the son of Lorene Beatrice (née Shipley) and William Alvin Jennings.  When Waylon was eight, his father taught him how to play guitar, and Waylon formed his first band two years later. During his time working as a DJ, he befriended Buddy Holly. The two were inspired by the music of the Mayfield Brothers of West Texas, Smokey Mayfield, Herbert Mayfield, and Edd Mayfield. When he was twenty-one, Jennings was tapped by Holly to play bass in Holly's new band on a tour through the Midwest in early 1959. Holly also hired guitarist Tommy Allsup and drummer Carl "Goose" Bunch for the "Winter Dance Party" tour.

During the early morning hours of February 3, 1959, the charter airplane carrying Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson (aka "The Big Bopper") crashed outside Clear Lake, Iowa, killing all on board. In his 1996 autobiography, Jennings admitted that in the years afterward, he felt severe guilt and responsibility for the crash. After Jennings gave up his seat, Holly had jokingly told Jennings, "I hope your 'ol bus freezes up!" Jennings shot back facetiously, "I hope your damn plane crashes!"[6]

Waylon did a stint as a DJ at a station around Lubbock. They even have a street named after Waylon.  Littlefield is west of Lubbock.

JP was another Texan. He was born in Sabine Pass, Texas in 1930.  He worked as a DJ at a radio station in Beaumont while he went to college.  The JP stands for Jiles Perry Richardson Jr.

Clyde plays electric bass,
Plays it with finese and grace
Sits on the porch, ain't got no shoes
Pickin' the bass and singin' the blues

Misery loves company,
This ole dog sings harmony,
Tamborine tied to his tail,
You can hear him moan, you can hear him wail,

Jody baby, she got a dollar,
Down the road,  you can hear her holler,
Git up Clyde, we got things to do,
That ole dog can sing the blues,

He don't move, he don't flinch
Clyde, he don't move an inch,
Set on the porch, ain't got no shoes,
Pickin' the bass and singin' the blues

Clyde plays electric bass,
Plays it with finese and grace
Sits on the porch, ain't got no shoes
Pickin' the bass and singin' the blues
