Howdy all,
Had a big, full weekend, and amazingly enough.. no CAS action in it.
I coached the opening day of our baseball season for a Bronco team (11-12 year old boys) and then we rushed off to a Boy Scout campout.
It was a great weekend of fun and sun with good folks. Seems that's what I like to do..
So what about y'all?
Well, besides work, which eats up 60 or more hours a week, I also have a front engine dragster that I race at nostalgia events in the midwest.
Playing with the kids, time with family, fly fishing (along with the family, they love playing in the streams), wood working, snowboarding (winter), and cooking. I love to cook! Just hate the cleaning up part ::). Oh, and writing ;)
Doc
Playin in the wood shop - http://www.piecesofwood.com/
Some of my surpluss time is spent viewing Jerry Springer!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
Riding bikes with my wife and kids.
Church and Bible study stuff.
Skateboarding, yea I know I'm 40 and fat, but I can still do it so why not.
Making music and sounds on synthesizers and a tenor saxophone.
Leather carving.
Well, I am a part time Gideon and a bunch of us went out Saturday and covered all the hotels and motels in our 'camp' to make sure the Good Book was still good.
Then I went with my daughter to help a low income family move as they didn't have a truck.
I came home and loaded up 150 + 45 Colt loads, took my wife out to dinner and called it a day. I have enough points for at least two shoots if I play my cards right.
I'm a criminal justice professor at our local college and sit on the Academic senate. That takes care of 3 days. I also belong to an old west reenactor group which take up about one saturday per month for now. As we head into better weather that will increase to two Saturdays for train robberies and the rest doing other activities with the group. ;D
Not to bad for a retired person huh!!!!! ;D
Lawdawg
This here winter i'v just tending to my sick family.
Influensa bouncing betwen familymembers for 6 months
now so there is little time for anything ells
Scouts: I'm an assistant Scoutmaster, Unit Commissioner, and District Membership Chair. I'm also on the Council International Committee, and I run the popcorn sales each year.
I try to get out and shoot my muzzleloaders now and again. I'd do it more often but don't have the time.
Beauty of CAS is that there is usually a match sometime during the month that I can get to.
US Scout
US Scout,
You sure are in the thick of the BSA life ain't ya? :D
I sure hope everyone appreciates your efforts. It's amazing what you can get done with just one hour a week. Haw!!
Adios,
Paintball...it's my business although I am retired from playing. Now that the weather is getting nice, there is always something to build on or repair, mow, brush hog, something with my 3 horses, 1 to break this year. I never thought I'd enjoy working so hard. in town I paid someone to mow a dinky lawn because I couldn't stand to do it...now I can't stand to see it needing to be mowed :)
Between coaching Little league and taking the boys to and from various things, such as basketball and T-ball, and keeping the yard mowed, and assorted "Honey Dos", I find I have a pretty full plate.
We had our opening day parade and my team is sponsored by the local chapter of the Badidos motorcyle 'club'....our float was escorted by the local chapter's president.....cops sure gave us some funny looks! ;)
Haw! I can't tell you how much that fits.. I'm LMAO!
I like that you didn't shave for a couple of days before.. trying to fit in..Ha!
Yeah, anybody who knows me should get a chuckle........when the league told me who my sponsor was, they kinda cringed, like they thought, well who knows what they thought......my response was "Cool" :)
Hext, I shave about once a week at the most, to once every other week...just depends...if I ever get a day job, I reckon I'll have to shave more often. ;)
I an avid beadworker and work with buckskins. I'm making a plains style ceremonial dress right now.
Then there's Community Bible Study, raising guide dog pups, and chasin' my 3 yr. old grandson.

Weeelllll,
I work alot to make a living. When not working for pay, I'm usually working on one of many half finished home projects that are not going near fast enough to please the Mrs. Of course there is always the kids ballgames, practices, and assorted other activities to go to.
I once was an avid tournament angler but my boat is now primarily garage decor. I think it has seen water three times in three years. Believe it is time to sell it. I used to be an avid hunter but had quit to fish year round. My daughter has developed an interest in hunting so I am back in the woods again. I really enjoy it though. I took up CAS to replace my fishing for I have always enjoyed shooting, grew up cowboy, and I can do it in my back yard. I make matches as my work and home schedule allows.
I play guitar and banjo to chill on occasion. I do vinatge auto restoration but have not had a project car in a while due to lack of time. I better finish the house projects first or "Le Ping" may come to visit.
I have recently gotten into BB gun restoration and shooting with the kids. This has been a lot of fun. The Concho Kid got me kicked off on this when he hooked me up with an Old Daisy Model 179 BB pistol that looks like a single action revolver. Kids had so much fun with it, as I did when I was a kid, that I started searching for these and the Crosman and Hahn brand CO2 single action revolvers. I pick them up when I can find them and try to make them shootable again. We have a lot of fun with this and it is good practice for them to advance into CAS in time. I also do the old 1894 Winchester style Daisy BB rifles for the same reason.
Then of course there is the time I spend reading the CAS City board. Way too much time according to some. :-[
Well, since I'm off today I better go paint, clean, do trim carpentry, frame, drywall, lay tile, shoot, put a pistol back together, buy more supplies, have a cold one and sing about it all before it is time to go pick the kids up from school. ;D
Besides CAS - any shooting sport - Bullseye,IPSC,Rifle, exept skeet and sutch
And when I can get my sorry a$$ down to the garage, this one takes up my time AND wallet.
Upland bird hunting.

Lovely gun.
Nice bird too. ;D
Besides that nasty "W" word (that accounts for 50-60 hours a week of my time) and CAS, I putter in the garage as a VERY amatuer woodworker. My first project was a gun storage vault for the bed of my truck (just imagine a wood versior of Truck Vault). The drawers were trickier than I thought they would be, but it came out fine. So much so that I my wifde has a whole list of things she now needs me to make, starting with storage shelves, a bed frame and new cabinets. On the plus side, it means I get to buy all brand new tools. It's kinda like "having" to buy a new gun!!! ;D ;D ;D
Well, I'm retired but my Wife is still working 3 days a week. So I do some housekeeping.
Than, twice a week shooting on de indoorrange and once a week horseback riding. Some days I'm reloading for my .38 Sp. and .45 LC. I like that job. Nice and easy to make that bullits. Both Nitro and BP. At last my time in Cas City. Mostly every day I spent some time inhere.
I'm retired and loving it. I do take care of the lawn and my secret sheep herd. Besides CAS I also shoot muzzle loaders in competition so I spend a lot of time tuning those old guns and shooting everything I get my hand on. I also collect, buy and sell collectable Colts and S&W firearms. I volunteer to work at shoots for my gun club and both SASS clubs I'm a member of. In my spare time I visit CAS City to be with my on-line pards.
We work, I work nights bartending till 3 am and we are off Monday and Tuesdays.
I take extra days off each month to shoot.
Non CAS related activities are usually drinking and gambling, being in the business it comes naturally.
We have just bought a travel trailer and have had it out every day off since we got it. Haven't been camping in years and it feels great to get out of town, even if it is just for the night.
A topic that is timeless, it seems.... 8)
I'm retired and a widower. Keeping things cleaned seems to be a never ending job. In the winters i build a few muzzle loading rifles. Do alot of fishing and my reloading. Just built my first gun cart and sold it to my buddy. And spend my xtra time on the computer
Running around the Left Coast in the grown-up truck keeps me pretty busy...but!
I like to practice my camera skills (or lack of) at the local shoots, concerts (when allowed), and chase any one or more of our 14 birds with the digital. (you want me to go hunt what???)
Lefty...tell me where the "Pony" will be parked later! :D That's a beauty! My wife had one damn near identical to it...before her ex-hubby's brother wrecked it! >:( :o Justifiable homicide in my book...or at least should have gotten the beating of a lifetime! 8) ;D
Oh, my, Lefty. Which engine is in that one?.......Buck 8) :o
You know there are four types of homicide:
Justifiable
Accidental
Felonious, and
Praiseworthy.
Keep House, Run Wild with my Cousins, and work on the Family History.
Voracious reader of most anything with words in a row. Counted cross stitch (www.Picturetrail.com; the user name is "Condorita" if you wanna have a look-see). Gardening (too little time spent on that, to be honest). ;D
When I can't find anything better to do......I post nonsense on the No Topic Thread!
Kid, your nonsense is always appreciated.
I used to guide elk and antelope hunts, write poetry, lead bible study groups, load, shoot, load, shoot, read, attend the theatre and enjoy music and films...
Now I work... sleep for a few hours, then work some more...
Work, sleep for a few hours, then work some more...
Work, sleep for a few hours, then work some more...
On the OTHER hand, though-- I have a BALL at work!
Can you believe someone pays me to wear bib overalls and ride on trains? ;D
BJD
I used to hunt once a month, and go to Fort Worth to eat and hang out with my best friends. It is football season and as a Red Raider from Texas Tech I have my season tickets and the season opens in Lubbock this weekend. But, with a new lady in my life I now spend my prime time watching her smile...

Come up with a No Topic thread, so the Kid has something to do.

My favorite teenager joke.
Q: Why did God ask Abraham to sacrifice Isaac when Isaac was but a "lad" of 12 years or less?
A: Because if Isaac had been a teenager, it wouldn't have been a sacrifice!
Lord Birdgun, I've got two living with me and you have never spoke a truer word...

First an answer to the question, is there anything other than CAS, oh yeah the Victorian Re-enacting stuff, the Victorian Magazine stuff. Geesh what a wake up call, I need to get a life out of CAS and the Victorian era! When we do have a weekend free we look at each other and say "hey, let's go shooting!"
Now on to the Teenager joke... I have a 13 year old. I LOVE THIS JOKE!!!!! it hits the nail on the head!!!!! Good one! Thanks I really needed that!!
There is something besides CAS? ??? You sure? :D Don't believe it. Well I go to this place 5 days a week so I can git a paycheck to buy CAS stuff and gas to go to CAS Shoots. Kids are all grown, me and my betterhalf shoot together when she's not workin, we have the greatest friends in CAS so we don't do much that ain't CAS related n one way or the other.
