Wish List, comments on mine and what were yours?

When I registered my new Cimarron .44, the site had a form that asked something like:  "What new item would you most like to see?' or some such truck.  I thought for a brief moment and posted two possibilities:

A .41 caliber conversion revolver

A large frame "Express" lightning rifle in heavy (1876) calibers. 

My feeling is the revolver might sell, the rifle . . .who can say.  That might be a nice limited run in one or two calibers. 

What do you think?  What did you wish for?

Well, the number of .41 shooters is minuscule and without a market ................

The Lack of reliability in the pump guns and the minuscule market (nobody wants 'em) kills a future express lightning.

I want Pietta to make a stainless 1st Model Richards Conversion.  Teny Tiny market.  Not gonna see that either.  Especially with a 5 inch barrel.

This is pretty easy to feed if you reload and you can blow out 38 special cases.
The newer Pietta '51's shoot a 140gr bullet to point of aim too!

Yeah, I assume the lack of .41 shooters equates roughly to the lack of a .41 offering in a revolver folks can get their hands on.  After all, there likely were not many .44 Russian and Colt shooters a few years back.  I think someone offering a .41 Long Colt, especially in a "modern Loading" a la the .44 Long Colt or in the (cut down .41 mag) .41 Special would sell them.  Guys who like guns are always on the lookout for a new project, something unique, etc.  If I were having a conversion made, I'd lean toward the .41.  To me it's a gap in the lineup of the SAAs and the Conversions. 

By the way Hoof, I got my Cimarron RM in and it is absolutely beautiful.  The fit and finish are flawless and it appears mechanically tight.  Ammo is on the way.  Thanks for the advice.

I'd like too see a double action colt lightning in. 38 special built to the correct proportions but with a modern reliable double action system.

My greatest wish has always been that someone would pick up the mantle that was dropped by ASM relating to the Richards Colt Conversions.  I would like to see this done in a quality way by actually beginning with one of their existing cap and ball frames and building from that.  I have owned a pair of the Cimmarons Uberti made Richards Masons and the oversized rendition just lost something in the end product.

Second wish is for a Uberti or Pietta would offer and promote a 'FIRST'  '60 Army Model with the '51 Navy grip frame and 7 1/2" barrel.

I have wondered why no one buys the parts and hand fits them here, puts an extra few hours into them and fits them properly. 

I'd also like to see an unengraved dragoon cylinder on them as an option.

To deal with liability issues, Uberti and Pietta are going to make more robust revolvers that are not quite the same as the originals. However they are fairly close and they are affordable.

To get the "real thing" you will need to buy a Uberti or a Colt 2nd generation and send them to an artist such as Raven to build the Richards conversion for you. I think the current price is $1500 and there is a 2 year wait.

An in between would be a Kirst Konversion of a Uberti, Colt 2nd generation, or Pietta fitted by Kirst or a gunsmith like Hoof Hearted who are familiar with them.

Frankly, there's no wrong decision. Its just a matter of how far you are willing to go to get your wish.

Agreed, and I have no problem with a beefed up conversion that will allow me to feel more comfortable shooting it.  

I think they are absolutely beautiful.  My only gripe , and admittedly piddling one at that, s that I think original conversions had unengraved cylinders, no?

The few I've seen in person and the pictures I've seen were all engraved as far as I can recall.  The roll engraving is very light so often it is a little hard to see on worn guns.

So it's just not easy to see opn worn old guns?  Thanks for that, I am extremely happy with mine and want a couple more.
