Cimarron Schofield issues

So i picked up an ASM schofield used from backpage and ive got some issues. The previous owner said it ran fine and he used in CAS. Well i tried it with some Herter's .45 LC and only two of the chambers fired. The rest were all light primer strikes. It was the same two chambers everytime. Also, when the chamber did fire the top break would open. What can I do?

First thing is to look the gun over and see who made it.  Cimarron is only an importer and imported both ASM and Uberti made Schofields.  Your starting point is to see what you have.

Its an ASM. Also the seller said he had some work done to make the cocking lighter. Crap, i know where this is going

It is virtually impossible to get parts for the Uberti and it is still in production.  The ASM has been out of production for many years and there are no parts.  There should be a strain screw in the forward part of the grip (where your fingers go).  You can try tightening that screw to see if it will eliminate your light hits.  The ASM guns have a reputation for very spotty QC.  One gun might be a good shooter and the next one off the line completely unworkable.

If it's coming unlatched then the hammer must be rebounding right? If the hammer is all the way down the latch shouldn't open, at least not on any Schofields I've messed with.

Hopefully the strain screw will fix the problems of both light hits and coming unlatched since they seem to be related.
