Take-Down Gun Carts - which is the best?

I need a guncart that I can quickly assemble/disassemble and fit into the trunk of my small car. 

Which one is the best?
Which one has the best features??

I have looked at many postings as well as web sites (Off-The Wall, Back Pocket, Cart-Right, etc) but cannot decide.  I think the Cart-Right may have the best features but it may not be the nicest-looking.

What say you?

This type works for me.  It folds up and fits in the back seat of my VW Bug.  You can get these for less than 50 bucks.  When opened up it will hold my long guns and my Winchester ammo box.  It ain't fancy.....but it works!

I'd like to have one made of wood too....but one of those will not fit in the back seat of my Volkswagen.  So this is the only type of cart I can use.

Surf on over to The Evil Roy Shooting School and check out his cart.  It breaks down into a 16" x 16" x 20" smooth box, holds 5 long guns, parts store in the back of the box; and shootin' stuff can be stored in the front.  Ain't cheap, but it's quality work.  My Bride and I each have one (she wants to carry too much "stuff" so we needed to separate).

Sod Buster, go to the web site for the Cherokee Cowboys in Georgia. You can get there through the Affiliated Clubs page on the SASS site. Rolan Krapps has a bunch of easy to follow plans for guncarts on line there. Every thing from a war wagon 4 wheel job to a simple 3 gun cart. Most of his break down real easy to fit in a car.

Some advice. Most folks get something bigger then they really need. This encourages one to pack more then what is actually needed. I believe in keeping it simple.

I built my own cart for less than $60, using as a base a welding cart I bought from Harbor Freight for $40.00. It fits in the back of my SUV with the rear seat down, but would not fit in a car.

I built many off Russ 'N Hound's plans that may be found on kansascas.com.  I have modified the design.  If you're interested, I'll walk you thru it.

This is the one I'm using now.



The pic was shot when I first got it up on its wheels.  It looks a little better now.

That's an $18.00 hunk of construction grade plywood.

The top comes off with four wing nuts, where the handle/rack meets the base. Even then, it fits whole inside my SUV:

Less than five hours after it got to the Bishop Ranch, I had that cav insignia painted on the lid. I will be putting other things on there as I can think of what would look good, just need to strip some panels and paint like I did on the lid. I still want to paint a side-view of one of my Rugers, maybe on one side of the box. I'm still not sure yet. I must admit I wished I'd asked him not to varnish it as my original idea was the paint the whole cart. Oh well, it looks nice in varnish!
