Johnny Depp has signed on to play Tonto in the new version of the Lone Ranger due out in 2012. Check out the information on the IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base)......should be interesting to say the least.

One story is that Tonto is the lead character and the Lone Ranger is the sidekick...........
Well.... see, if you take your time, you get a more harmonious outcome.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto rode the trail,
Catching outlaws an' puttin' them in jail,
But the Ranger shot ol' Tonto 'cause it seems
He found out what kemo-sabe means.

Waterloo, Waterloo,
Where will you meet your Waterloo?
Oh, the ranger he did trust,
Then ol' Tonto bit the dust.
Ever'body has to meet his Waterloo.

Many Thanks to Homer and Jethro.

I consider The Lone Ranger as a "comic book Hero", so how appropriate to have an actor who has successfully carved out a niche playing larger-than-life 'comic book' roles.

Let's face it, I enjoy movies and especially if they're Westerns. Whether it's an 'Oater' or 'Open Range', I'm there.

Our BRR posse has chosen to go see "Cowboys vs. Aliens" as our NCOWS social event first weekend in August, all decked out in our 19th century duds, then dinner out at a restaurant. People love to see us and it always gives us an opportunity to introduce NCOWS to interested people.

You know, Ben Kingsley wasn't Indian, either (nor Hindu), yet he earned an Academy Award for "Ghandi". ;D ;)

The other night we watched Johnny Depp portraying John Dillinger in "Public Enemies". Depp appears to take his craft seriously and should do a decent job as Tonto IMHO. It looks like they picked Armie Hammer to play the Lone Ranger.

It's supposed to be released on Dec. 21, 2012 - Mayan Doomsday. :o

OMG! Let's hope there are no Mayans in the movie.

Great example of his work...I think Tom Hanks was a cross dresser once.  At that time no one took him serious either.

I never thought Thomas Hayden Church could have done such a great job as a cowboy after seeing his earlier work.

Yes, born Krishna Pandit Bhanji in England.

I stand corrected.
