Need 44wcf Revolver
« on: May 26, 2011, 07:36:05 PM »
Not sure if this is kosher, but I have also posted a request in the Want Ads.

Switching to .44wcf for my main rifle and pistol combo and would like a SAA clone with a 7.5 inch barrel. Need a good shooter, not a pretty gun. I've seen a few in the $375.00-425.00 range online and wanted to stay in that ballpark. Let me know what you have.
I have a little gun shop right down the road if we need an out of state transfer for FFL purposes.

Thanks,

Cherokee,  I'm not sure how helpful this will be, my pistol isn't for sale, but I will make a recommendation. I bought a Great Western II (made by Pietta) about a year ago in 44 wcf. If I remember correctly it was in the $400. range brand new. It even has a cylinder bushing which the early 3rd gen. Colts did not! 44wcf is a GREAT caliber with black(real) powder. Good luck on your quest!

REB, you have picked a great cal. to shoot. My guns are not for sale but have two Schofileds 7 in 44/40. Two 7 1/2 in Uberties, two USFA 5 1/2 , and one Rem. Oulaw in 5 in. My favorite the Schofields. The USFA's I shoot blackpowder and they are very well made, so say better than the Colts. Will you be at the National? Should have the Schofields there. Tj

Deadeye, if he's not I might be interested in that outlaw. I got one in 45 but would rather have a 44wcf so my rifle and pistol are the same.

Deadeye- yep I shot with you guys and had a great time. I have had and sold two Outlaws. Something about them just don't fit my hand. Have a couple leads on a couple guns though.

I agree that 44-40 is the way to go if you only shoot BP. I had a Uberti '66 rifle in .45 colt that I gave up because of BP fouling issues. Bought a long barrel '73 that loves the stuff.

Traded an Open Top for a GW II 5.5 inch barrel in 44-40 bit the pard I traded with is having issues with the Open Top and of he's not happy with it we'll be trading back, so I'm not getting attached to it til that is resolved.

Hope to know more about a new revolver by COB today.
