The Texas Tequila Terror?
« on: November 03, 2010, 04:11:18 PM »
Has anyone else heard of this guy?

I found a picture of this rather unsavory character. He was known as "the Texas Tequila Terror." Apparently, by day this ruffian posed as a friendly doctor, but at night he and his gang of wild-eyed drunken cutthroats raided banks, stagecoaches, railroads and candy stores (I guess he must have had a sweet tooth as well as an appetite for destruction). This is the only known picture of him, but it's obviously not guaranteed to be him.

The article said his fate was unknown. The locals claimed to have had a potluck dinner at his hanging but there are no official documents supporting either part of that claim (the dinner or the hanging). In fact, there were rumors he'd taken his wife and kids and moved to S. Dakota. They were never verified, though.

So, any of you Texas historians know of him?

I know about the guy you are talking about.   They say he is the meanest cabron to ever ride out of Mexico since the revolution (not exactly sure which one).

 A few rumors I've heard:

He carries an .88 caliber gun  . . . as a pocket pistol.

His horse, Carabina only eats Jalapenos and drinks Carbon Oil.  A fella standing behind it in Reynosa spontaneously combusted one day.

When he walks in a saloon, women faint, and men run for cover (probably due to some personal hygiene issues.)

He owns a big hacienda in Coahuila.  He sold the northern 10% to some guy named King so he could start a ranch.  His other hacienda in Jalisco he leases out to Don Cuervo to grow those little blue agave plants.

They say he shot a guy in Goliad for snoring . . . he fired the shot from a moving train in Del Rio . . . with a derringer.

They've got a portrait of him over the bar in Piedras Negras:

The link to Pancho's picture of his portrait over the bar in Piedras Negras is broken. I'd like to see it if it's him.

There are rumors of him all over the country. He allegedly used medical and other conventions to scout out potential targets and then revisited them later with his gang for their brutal hits. Of course, it's all legend shrouded in clouds of mystery. For some reason, Evensville strikes a chord though. He may have been there. And Kansas City, too at some point or other.

Why would any one want to mix Rye with anything? There is just no way to improve the taste of Rye, it's just GREAT!!! Tj

I saw some Rye in a store in Colorado last week.  At 75 a bottle I dont think I will be tasting any of that brand anytime soon.   I like Jim Beam Rye.

I see Pancho's picture from this computer. Hmmmmm.

In the meantime, is it true that if you drink enough of that stuff, your vision starts distorting and it looks like you're looking through a rye-de angle lens?
