NCOWS in "Guns of the Old West" Fall Issue
« on: August 19, 2010, 08:42:11 PM »
Just got my Fall 2010 issue of "Guns of the Old West"

La Vista Bill Bell has an article on the 1883 Colt Burgess replica.  The article is more about NCOWS than the Burgess.

His article is very fact based, honest, and positive about NCOWS.  He gives a brief and accurate history of NCOWS as an organization.

He even (surprisingly) says a few nice things about that crew of banditos out at the Scarlet Mask Vigilance Society. ;D ;)

Big thanks to La Vista Bill Bell for a very well written piece casting an honest and good light on our organization.

Those of us in the SMVS club ... and NCOWS in general, should be (and are) proud.  It's an excellent piece that really makes our "club" look good!

I'm also proud to say that my good friend Dave "Jed Cooper" Hollandsworth's head and hat can be seen standing next to (timing) La Vista Bill in the photo.
 :D

AND ... my very own watch fob, the custom one I had scrimshawed of the official NCOWS logo from an Ivory Nut custom-made by Kitty is featured (well, it's lying beside it) in one of the photos of the beautiful rifle featured in the article.  It's my pocketwatch and chain charm, too!

Dave and I will be selling our autographs at the next big NCOWS function at discounted prices for NCOWS members and our friends.

 ;)

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks, "La Vista Bill"  Bell

It is an excellent article both about the Burgess and NCOWS.  Again I apologise for confusing La Vista Bill with that other "writer".

SHB, I am looking forward to the autograph party for you and Dave. If you guys happen to have a copy of the movie, "HUD", with Paul Newman, I am in two scenes. I would be happy to autograph your copies.

Howdy Pancho.

Just picked up the fall issue of "Guns of the Old West" It's an informative article and very complimentary to NCOWS. Many thanks for posting this.

Chompin' at the bit to get the Fall issue...wallyworld here is somewhat unpredictable, sometimes they get it sometimes they don't.

T Joe, I was only 16 at the time. I had not been bitten by the Cop bug yet. I did meet some Armstrong Co. Deputies later after I had become one. I was in the Rodeo scene, unloading some horses out of a trailer and I was one of the "shooters", dressed in black raincoats and hats. They had us shoot down into to the pit where the cattle were to be buried.

It is a real fine article!  Hope that it dispels a lot of MYTHS about what we do and don't allow.  Most folks won't take the time to find the website and check for themselves!
