Single Shot in 50-70

Howdy Pards
Wonder if the good people at H&R would build a 26 inch Octagon barrel on there single shot rifle . The sights would be a semi buckhorn rear and a rocky mountain front sight . stocks are walnut and a straight ( English stock ) and the fore arm would be  thin like guns were 100 years ago . And Top it off by having it chambered in 50-70 . What ya think ????

Rowdy,

Take a gander at page 56 of this catalog.  The Creedmore model has a barrel at 30 inches.  The sight dovetails are empty, so you could put whatever you wanted in them.

Set the barrel back two turns, run a 50-70 reamer in to make sure, and you are in business!!

only fly in the butter is that the H&R in their present configuration would be on the Unapproved list.  Changing the barrel to octagon or the caliber would not change that.  The action is the problem, and changing out everything else would not make it fly.

However, if you are just wanting something to shoot, I happen to have a H&R which has been rebarreled to 40-65 WCF with a 28 or 30 inch barrel.    ;D ;D ::)

Hope I aint   stirred up a Hornets nest . We all know the H& R handi rifles won't ever be NCOWS legal but I just thought it would be a cheap 50-70 to play with . I would love to have a 50-70 in a Rolling Block , but they aint CHEAP .

Rowdy;  You might still be able to find a Swedish roller in 12.7 X 44R.
