Actually, Camp Apache/Fort Apache is located in the White Mountains on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation and is in timber country.  The Fort and the Town of White River are on a little plateau that looks barren, but the area is surrounded by trees.  Toward the upper left corner of the photo is a present day timber mill.  Just up the road the Tribe operates a ski resort.  It is in an area of Arizona that has four seasons (as opposed to Phoenix which has one season -- HOT).

Are the scorpions in that region bad news?
A work in progress.
