Uberti London Navy question

I read in an issue of Guns of The Old West that the Uberti London Navy's grip frame has the exact same dimensions as the Model P. Is this true?

    The Model P grip is often referred to as the navy grip. The guard and backstrap should be interchangeable on Colts, but I don't know about replicas.

direct interchange , minor if any fitment
On orginials minor fiting may be needed

Can't say Pietta to Pietta interchange

 but Pietta to Uberti  or Vise-verse is a project of fitment.... holes do not line up

I never looked closely enough at mine to compare, but posters here have said the London gripframe is the same as the Colt, or Uberti's own SAA, and the brass frames are a bit smaller.  We are talking profile here, not screw patterns.  An Uberti London gripframe should fit any Uberti for screw location, but a new part from VTI or such would probably need fitting at the edges, sides,etc.  as they will probably (hopefully) be oversize.

VTI may offer unfinished and Finished , unfinished will need fitting.

I can only tell you Finished fit my gun, can't say every gun, but it was glove fit on mine   London Grip frame on may R&M Navy Conversion.

Will work same as fitting the London frames to a model P:

Uberti to Uberti or Colt 2nd Gen, and
Pietta to Pietta

I put a set of GWII grip frames and grips on a Pietta 1851 Navy with only minor sanding of the grips.

The Uberti London Navy grip frame fits very well on my Uberti 1860 Army, both were made in 2008.

I just put an unfinished Sig Series BS/TG on a Pietta '61 Navy frame.  Screw holes lined up with no problem. I haven't done the final fitting and polishing yet, but there isn't too much extra material to take off.
