Major Newell Indian Service

Chas. Eisenmann, NY. Major C (or L?) Newell, Indian Service. Great decorative outfit, pistol at his waist. There is a Major Newell that was active in the is time period in the Dakotas regarding relations with the Indians but I have not been able to determine definitively if this is he.
