Hi

I have been working on a knife scabbard project for about 21 years

Problem is, or was, I needed a SPECIFIC shape of what I thought was a staple

Last week I find out that what I'd been looking for was called a "Spot Rivet" - namely, the version made by Stimpson & given the product code P455

21 year search over I thought...

Almost! They are "out of stock" & - here's where it gets interesting - they need me to place an order of 100,000 rivets

Soooo, I just thought I'd ask.... "Anyone got any of these that I can buy??" I'd be happy to buy 1,000 - even 10,000

HELP :)

ChuckBurrows

1) Check with Ohio Travel Bag and see if they carry them
2) Ask over on www.leatherworker.net since there is a wider audience of different types of crafters who visit
3) Ask Stimpson who they sell to
Hope this helps.........

Hi

Appreciate the assistance - no luck yet - apart from BAD...

Anyhoo - as I was confused for 21 years looking for a "staple" - I thought it best to post an image of what I am after...

NOTE - these are FLAT...

May even have to get a 2 part cutting die made by laser cutter or such!!!

BIGGEST bane of my leatherwork life = sourcing the CORRECT metalwork fittings....

Actually looks like a staple to me also!  Weaver sells a belt loop rivet that does not look that different from yours except it is oval where yours is diamond shaped.  I do not have anything to check dimensions with.

Interesting...

One of the 6 scabbard makers used a more rounded fitting - funny co-incidence too - just ordered the Weaver catalog about 2 minutes ago!!
Tried Ohio Bag & a couple of other possibles - still waiting for news....

Thanks again for all the input & ideas

Is this possibly what your looking for? They come in three sizes, 1/4  3/8  1/2

Thanks for the link = not them I'm afraid...

The pic below that has all the views on it, its the top left image that shows what the rivet looks like from above when fitted.
The diamond one at Tandy seemed more raised too - the rivets I need are flat and look 6 sided once installed

Again, appreciate the affort shown by everyone
