S&W DA.44 in Wichita, KS 4Sale
« on: August 28, 2009, 10:02:48 AM »
Saw it in a gun shop called "The Bullet Stop", just off the intersection of Meridian and Pawnee.  They have a Smith & Wesson Double Action, "Frontier", in 44-40 (NOT .44 S&W Russian), 5" barrel.  Not much collector's value,(reblue) but excellent mechanical condition (minor pitting at top of frame).  Dealer wants $600 or so (I think), about what you'd pay for a modern Schofield replica.  Saw it two weeks ago, so it may already be gone!  Call 'em at: 316-945-3331 or their website: www.thebulletstop.com

I'm having second thoughts about passing it up, but I just didn't have the $$$ (or the plastic) at the time.  Don't have it now, for that matter.

Interesting...thanks for the tip...at least a heads-up on the gunshop in Witchita. I visit occasionally for work.

I do enjoy my S&W DA, but it's a .44 Russian. I also shoot Colt 1873 in .44-40 & I can only imagine the troubles I'd have controling it with my BP loads in a Smith DA.  :o

Guns Garrett, would love to have it. If I lived near would be hard not to. But I just bought a pre war USFA in 44/40 and that put me low on funds or capital as they say in Monty Walsh. Thanks for sharing with us. Tj

Good to hear the Bullet Stop doing well.

I had bought lots of my cowboy guns from them and mucho reloading supplies when I first got into cowboy action shooting 10 years ago, but moved to Texas 7 yrs. ago. Shot in their indoors range alot and even shot their big bore pistol leagues at the time. :) Funny, but sometimes I'll still see a "Bullet Stop" sticker on a set of reloading dies or even a jug of smokeless powder dated 07/01 that I just used up.

The Bullet Stop is where I took my NRA Personal Protection Inside The Home Instructor Course about 2 years ago with a group of 5 other Nebraskans and a couple of Kansans. Don is a fine Instructor and has a fine staff and a great facility. Take care.
