Dr. Bob

I found a Mexican charro saddle with the ball horn in a local flea market for $50 and delivered it to Ottawa Creed Bill at the NCOWS Nationals.  The tree was as solid as a rock but most of the leather and even the rawhide cover were long gone.  Rap it with your knuckles like you were knocking on a door.  If all the wood pieces are still there, it can be re-glued and then covered with rawhide and be good as new.   ;D

Wished i knew a saddle maker that could make moccasins ;D ::)  Is that saddle for a customer Cowboy?
Sure would like to visit your shop ,looks pretty nice nice to see how a saddle is really made,i never put much thought into it.There used to be a feller here in town years ago when i was younger and had horses of my own which my dad bought from him.He was a saddle maker (extroideneur?),but like i said when i was younger i didn't put much thought in it and didn't realise that i was getting to talk visit and see a real leather craftsman. He had a shop down the road from our family buissness. His name was Bill Enos,i would give anything to have some of his leather now.I used to ride and old saddle that belonged to my great aunt who was pretty much full blood Cherokee i think, had her name on the cantle Mary Woodside she never married and tere farmed all her life in Ok..Bill Enos restored the saddle, but i think my pop gave it to a friend after he sold the farm so to speak.Watching you do this saddle sure brings back alot of fond memories, thank you, i really enjoy watching you guys.. :)

The saddle will be for sale after the Boot and Saddle Show in Oct.
I was not smart enough to pay attention when I was in high school when a friend of mine worked in a leather shop. Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. :)

Holly Cow WC,
That is going to be a AWESOME saddle! And I, like the rest of the pards, enjoy seeing you do it in steps, so that those of us that wouldn't have a clue how to make a saddle, will  at least get to see all the hard work envoled in making one!
Thanks for sharing!

Went to visit my mountianman friend yesterday and was telling him about your work.He asked where you got your trees at.He has made a few (he made the wooden one i have) He said he got some in Utah.He told me once when he made his pack saddle he would rub mud on his butt sit the saddle and carve till he got the seat right.
Here's a picture of him..

Been down for the last couple days with a bad cold. Finally got some work done on the saddle today.
Covered the fork and got all the tooling done. Started about  11am and finished about 9:30 pm.
I'll put the pix in several postings.
