Howdy All
I started my next saddle for the Wichita Falls Show.
I'll post resized pix here every so often and the large file I'll keep adding to my photobucket.

Shoot, I could do that. ----------------------------If I were you!

Once again a great example of professional carving. Thanks for sharing

WC, it seems there is a pretty large group of leather workers up in the Puget Sound area. Do they ever have shows, and do you ever get up there? Just Curious, JD

WC....as you post pics, why not tell those folks here that don't know, what each piece is used for....I'll hazard a guess, and say that is the piece that goes under the swell/horn.

I don't know if they have any shows. I've not made it up there. I hope in the future to be able to get out and do classes in other towns.

OCB
You are right I should have said where that piece goes. I think it was late when I posted it. :)
That is the Gullet cover. (underside of the fork)
Thanks all for the kind words.

Wow, Wayne, that looks great. I've never thought about putting accent cuts outside the design. I like it. Thanks for the pic. Now I can hardly wait to see the finished item.

WC, thta is a beautiful piece of work. Will it affect the tooling when you mold it into place?

Finished the gullet and it rubbed down the tooling just a bit at the back but that will be covered up by the fork cover anyway.

WC, it looks like it is coming along nicely. I was amazed that installing the gullet didn't harm your tooling and I like the way you are carrying the pattern thru to the other componets.
I have an old  tree in the shed that may finally get past where you are right now. I started it a long time ago and never got past the horn cover and gullet. I guess I am really back into this now thanks to you guys.

Keep posting the pics and when I  get home I will show the forum mine and they will have a how to and how not to for comparison. ::)

Finished blocking the skirts yesterday. They have to set and dry for 3 days, then I can re-wet and do the carving.
