« on: January 05, 2009, 09:41:25 AM »
This is from a Tin Type, I have
They are Great Uncles of mine on my Mother's side
Virgil ,John (Seated) and Pea Norton
The Tin Type was taken circa 1861, The Brothers were from
The Highlands, North Carolina Macon Co. area.
I have not found the Regiment, or even branch of Service.

I have another of John we believe is after the war. Virgil died of wounds,
Pea did not survive the war and is though to of died of Disease.

Major,   Those are fantastic.   To think they are family of yours also makes them even more cool.   Good luck in your hunt for more information.  Let us know what you find out.

years ago I sent the copy to then Camp Chase Gazette , it was private owned and run CW Buff Magazine.
The editor Bill Keitz ran the photo on the cover, just as you see it.

It is believed, State Militia ...But not sure it NC as Western Carolina mostly was Unionists , Excluding Kirks's Raiders.
Might be S. Carolina or Georgia ...the quest continues  :)
