I love the Adler book,  but I am sure someone will tell you (so it might as well be me!)  that the McDowell book is the "bible" of cartridge conversions.  In fact,  I just found a good used copy for $114.00.   Wooo hoooo.

Where Adler's book is the 'coffee table' book, McDowell's - 'A Study of Colt Conversions and Other Percussion Revolvers'  - is the 'bible' for serious collectors.

It's expensive, as you'll note should you look for a copy for purchase - because of demand and because there was a single printing before McDowell died, and that greatly affects pricing on the secondary market.

You should be able to borrow a copy from your Public Library by using an Inter-Library Loan.

Gaucho Gringo

I have had Adler's book for about 6 years. I read it cover to cover about once a year. It may not include every little detail but it covers a lot of territory on the subject of conversions.
